See All ReviewsI am a bbq connoisseur, and I like going on Texas trips and always choose to eat barbecue at the local barbecue restaurants instead of other options. I had heard this was a good barbecue restaurant, but apparently those that said this had not had real barbecue to compare. I got the brisket plate, and my friend got the fajita plate. My review will be about the brisket plate I ordered. The brisket was awful. They thinly slice it and serve it soaked in their barbecue sauce. The barbecue was over saturated and soggy with the sauce. Why? Why would you not let me decide if I want sauce or not? I have never been at a barbecue Texan restaurant that adds the sauce without permission. They serve it nice, thick, and without sauce. This soggy and thinly sliced barbecue was the worst barbecue I have ever tried in my life. And I paid 19.00 dollars for my plate and tea. The price was insane for very bad barbecue. Their barbecue sauce was disgusting, too. It was awfully sweet and was simply not good, so it got me beyond upset that the sauce was all over the barbecue. So on top of awful low quality barbecue, I get the nasty barbecue sauce I didn’t like all over the bad barbecue I ordered but still have to try it and found out both were bad. The salad in the plate had bad Ranch. It didn’t taste homemade, but if it was, it was just okay. I make a better Buttermilk Ranch. The Potato Salad was good but not great. I’ve tasted way better and make mine better. They need to work on making it better by maybe adding more spices like garlic powder or onion powder, but at least it as good and edible. The salad was edible. The sweet tea was good, too. The atmosphere was good, too. The waitress never gave me a refill though. I kept telling my friend I was thirsty and needed a refill, but this gal never came over to refill me. It was just awful, and I will never come back again. I am sorry. I don’t like to make these type of reviews, but this is strictly only my opinion. Other people need to try it for themselves. I am a cook. I love to make great creations, so you won’t satisfy me with what you gave me. Never. I hope y’all figure your barbecue out. I don’t think I can give it a second chance myself. But I wish y’all well, and everything is a learning experience. Try cutting thicker barbecue and letting your customers decide if they want barbecue or not. Work on making your sauce less sweet. And do not serve barbecue that seems old, soggy, and tasteless. It didn’t even have good flavor. It tasted old and reserved:reheated.
Visited for the first and last time on 4/21—very disappointing experience. We waited a good while before our order was taken, while another table that arrived after us was served first. (I understand this because they had a reservation.) Our server appeared to be new, which I also understand, and I thank him for trying his best and trying to help (I understand the pressure he must have gone through, being new, dealing with a new environment.) Despite that, service was still extremely disorganized. We ordered 2 iced teas and they took some time to arrive. I will mention that even though we did wait a good while, that it was nice and fun to look around and admire the restaurants decor and cozy flair—so that distracted us a bit, if not we would have left. When we ordered food, things became even more confusing. I ordered fajita nachos listed at $13.99 + a side of MIXED beans/rice which are charged separately. Instead, I was charged for a fajita plate at $15.99, and the mixed beans/rice was also added separately at $1.79. My partner ordered the 1 lb brisket advertised at $16.49 with two sides charged separately. (receipt showed the brisket at $19.99.) When the food came out, the portion was nowhere near 1 lb — only a few very thin and ridiculously small slices. After we said something, a lady who seemed to be the manager came out and acknowledged the server was new, then more brisket was brought out afterwards. She told us that our sides would be free of charge. Based on that statement, we trusted that the situation was being corrected and tried to finish our meals without causing conflict. (Note: the brisket was already covered in BBQ sauce which I’ve never seen at any other brisket place, usually you see BBQ sauce on the side, if not it should be mentioned since not everyone likes BBQ sauce.) When the bill came, the subtotal was $51.73 + tax. I paid $60 cash and only received $4 back. When I politely asked for clarification due to the wrong items and prices, and the promise of free sides, the manager quickly told me that “if anything, you’re saving money.” To avoid escalation, I tried my best to calm down and to contain myself politely. I understand they are a business having to make money somehow, but her entire response made no sense to me because nothing was explained thoroughly. If a customer questions a bill, it’s common sense to calmly review the receipt with them, re-ring the order properly, and clearly show the corrections alongside the customer with a proper, thorough explanation, not dismiss concerns by saying “you’re saving money” in a hurried tone. *As per what we were charged, here are the numbers: 1lb brisket $19.99, side of rice and coleslaw each $3.49, fajita plate $15.99, mixed beans/rice $1.79, 2 iced teas $6.98 with subtotal @ $51.73. What it should have been: 1 lb brisket $16.49, side of rice and coleslaw each 3.49, fajita nachos $13.99, mixed beans/rice $1.79, 2 iced teas $6.98, correct subtotal @ $46.23, the difference being $5.50 higher than menu pricing. If the sides were truly supposed to be free as promised, the subtotal should have been $39.25, which is a difference of $12.48 before tax. So no, we were not “saving money.” We were charged more than the advertised menu prices and left with no clear explanation. The food itself was average at best, the brisket was disappointing, the service was a joke, the order was wrong but I understand to some extent since the server was new, but what I think would be “management” handled the situation and billing concerns poorly. I know that businesses have their mishaps, especially in the food industry but even then customers confide in these businesses to make their experience pleasant and when you have a business that lacks proper management and accountability it’s no wonder that over time customers stray away and look for better, actual quality places that deserve their time, money, and energy. Being said, there are many better places to spend your money, and unfortunately, this was not worth our time, money, or energy at all and we will not be back. 👎🏻
First time there. I was expecting at least two levels below GW's bbq but man it was a great disappointment. First, the portions were very anemic. I ordered the 2 meat deal being the fajita and brisket. The brisket was sliced so thin I could see light on the other side. 4 little slices in total. The fajitas were more plentiful... 6 little slices. The Mac and cheese was a total joke! It was literally from Kraft cheese and Mac! The corn had to be from a can! The pico was decent according to my son. The sweet tea was ok too. My wife got the brisket sandwich which was also a let down. Again, very little protein. Forgot to mention that my brisket was also mainly fat. My other son ordered some ribs which were actually ok to him but severely lacking meat. The bones were plenty though. What hurt the most was the price! $95.00! Nope ... never again. Sorry, but for the price GW's, Willies, Teddy's, and even Rudy's is lots better.
