See All ReviewsAte at the Cesar Chavez location in early November 2025; ordered mutabbal, lentil soup, falafel, hummus. All were fragrant, mouth watering, and freshly made (so be patient!) Friendly, helpful. They've since moved from that location and we miss them!! I don't know whether the McNeil address is current.
The fried kibbeh was terrific — generous amounts of juicy beef in the inside, crispy on the outside. It came with 2 sauces — a tangy yogurt tahini sauce, and a dark sweet and slightly fruity sauce. Both sauces went really well with the kibbeh! Though nicely fried, the falafel was more plain than we’re used to. Perhaps their Syrian falafels don’t include parsley or spices like cumin or cayenne. They were drizzled with the two sauces above. The hummus and cucumber-tomato salad were tart, too sour for my liking. The grilled kebab meat was excellent (nicely seasoned, good quality beef/lamb), but the wrap it came in was disappointing. Warning: it looks nothing like its photo on the menu. There were hardly any vegetables and it was dripping in the same wet yogurty sauce. I do not like soggy wraps that drip all over my hands.
WOW! I found a good one. I was very impressed by my first time visiting Aleppo Foods (and it won’t be my last). Their chicken shawarma plate is bursting with flavor, dare I say the best saffron rice in the world!? I’d highly recommend checking out this spot for a quick bite. High quality food, fast & friendly service, wonderful family business to support. Highly recommend:)
