See All ReviewsIf you are exhausting yourself trekking through the West Bank tombs, do yourself a massive favor and skip the generic tourist-trap lunch buffets that charge you 100EP for a small bottle of water. Head straight to the rooftop at Ali Baba instead. The view alone is worth the stairs—you’re basically dining with a direct line of sight to ancient history, looking out toward the Valley of the Kings and the Colossi of Memnon. But unlike a lot of places where you pay for the view and suffer through mediocre food, the kitchen here actually delivers. I ordered a traditional beef shwarma with chicken pizza, and it was rich, deeply flavorful, and incredibly comforting. The shwarma was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the chicken pizza a masterpiece, the chips got me by suprise, it tasted exatcly like that of a "wimpy" franchise . It’s easily one of the best meals I've had in Egypt so far and I started my journey from Cairo to sham El sheikh down to Luxor. The staff is lightning-fast, the presentation is surprisingly elegant for a casual spot, the toilets are actually clean, and they seamlessly accept card payments. Absolute gem of a lunch spot! Pro-Tip: dont get sucked into the tourist trap restaurant with over charged meals, go to Ali BaBa and definitely have a fresh juice!
If you’re in Ali Baba Restaurant, do yourself a favor and COME HUNGRY. 😋 We first stopped by for breakfast after our hot air balloon trip and had a simple omelette with cheese and fries — and somehow it hit the spot perfectly. Exactly what we needed after an early start! We met Ali, the manager, who speaks very good English and was so accommodating and warm. Instant good vibes. We loved it so much we came back for lunch… and WOW. The shish chicken was honestly one of the best we’ve had. Even my super fussy eater partner approved (which says a LOT 😂). I also savored a pure mango juice that tasted like sunshine in a glass. And yes… we came back AGAIN for dinner with our lovely tour guide and driver. Kofta? Delicious. Chicken and mushroom? So good. Sambousaka? Gone in seconds. Everything was amazing — but the real highlight was the service. Mahmoud was our favorite server — thoughtful, welcoming, and genuinely kind. We honestly felt like we made a friend in Luxor. Ali Baba isn’t just a restaurant — it’s the kind of place that makes you want to keep coming back. Kudos to the whole team! If you’re in Luxor, don’t miss this gem. 🍽️✨ - Chris and Audrey, Sydney Australia Feb 14, 2026
Fantastic place with nice view of balloons and stones. The owner is very kind he especially open the door early for us to see the balloons. And the food is nice
