THE BIGGEST TOURIST TRAP IN SAN JUAN – PREDATORY PRICING & DECEPTIVE PORTIONS! My Rating: ⭐ (1/5) I am visiting Puerto Rico with my family from New Jersey—one of the most expensive states in the U.S. and a hub for world-class Turkish food. I know exactly what Mediterranean food should cost and how it should be served. My experience at Ali Baba was not just a disappointment; it was a calculated scam. 1. Predatory Pricing & Deception: The pricing here is beyond astronomical. They charged me $20 for a SINGLE Lahmacun. To put this in perspective, in New Jersey, we pay around $21 for THREE authentic, high-quality Lahmacuns. To make it worse, they cut that one Lahmacun into four small pieces to trick us into thinking we were getting a full meal. It is an insult to the customer's intelligence. 2. Overpriced Across the Board: It wasn’t just the Lahmacun. Every single item on the menu was outrageously overpriced compared to the mediocre quality and small portion sizes provided. Whether it was the appetizers or the mains, you are paying fine-dining prices for "tourist-trap" quality food. 3. Poor Value for Families: If you are traveling with a family, STAY AWAY. You will leave feeling cheated and your wallet significantly lighter without the satisfaction of a good meal. This is a textbook "tourist trap" designed to exploit travelers. Do not waste your hard-earned money or your vacation time here. There are far more honest and delicious establishments in San Juan that deserve your business. We feel completely ripped off.
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. They treated me like family even though it was my first time here. The Imam Baylidi is to die for and the Baklava with ice cream takes an amazing dessert to a different level. I will ABSOLUTELY be back next time I'm in San Juan. ☺️
