See All ReviewsIt's ok. Since the place is called hotcakes, I thought they'd have good pancakes. I thought wrong. Pancakes are definitely a strange texture. More like a bready texture. Not really fun or tasty to eat. The coffee was just disgusting. It tasted like it was sanitized. Very odd flavor. Otherwise the grits were tasty, the stuffed hash brown was good and the skillet with home fries was good as well. Most likely will never return to see if their coffee and pancakes get better. While the main dishes were good, they weren't enough to make me want to come back to a place called hotcakes when they can't even make a good hotcake... Or coffee for that matter.
I had heard great things bout this place. My first visit. Very lovely , clean very friendly staff. I had the Eggs Benedict and potatoes, was delicious. I have to say I'm a 71 year old woman and my husband not well so I have to eat alone and I felt very comfortable there. It's a little pricey for seniors but for a special little outing it was worth it. I will definitely come back and explore something else on the menu
Had the stuffed hashbrowns with sausage gravy and it was absolutely amazing. Stop there on the way from Dunedin to the sponge docks and had a great breakfast with my girlfriend.
