Friday night at Antojitos Salvadorenos Austin LLC felt like a quick trip out of the United States without leaving Austin. The area is a cluster of food trucks and makeshift kitchen shacks, and the combined smell of everyone cooking pulls you in immediately. It’s lively, a little chaotic, and honestly part of the fun. I ordered the queso pupusa and the calabaza con queso. Both were hot, thick, and clearly made fresh on the griddle. The curtido (pickled cabbage) and salsa were great — crunchy, tangy, and just spicy enough to bring everything together. The squash and cheese pupusa was the surprise favorite. Simple, comforting, and really satisfying. If you want polished and predictable, go somewhere else. If you want authentic Salvadoran pupusas on a busy Friday night with great smells and real food-truck energy, this place absolutely delivers.
Fingernail in my food! Opened the bag of pickled veggies and mixed it in my own dish with the salsa that comes with the pupusa and first bite bit something hard. Spit it out and it was a damn fingernail!!! Called to let them know; No one wanted to help. Hung up on me when I tried explaining to them what happened and they said there was no way because no one wears fake nails! It was not a fake nail!
Recommended visit Pictured: Carne asada plate, plantains (side), 3x pupusas, 2x tortillas and 1x horchata The food is delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was peaceful. I plan to go again. Weather was a bit chilly today but fine with a sweater. Note: Parking is shared with many other food trucks locations.
