Awesome subs at Antonini’s! We ordered a large Cheese Steak Grilled (hot) and an Italian (cold). The spicy pepper relish is delicious! All the ingredients were fresh and served perfectly. I highly recommend this deli! It is exactly what you want and expect.
The subs can't be beat! They also have racks of chips, refrigerated cases of soft drinks, and even candy snacks at the cash register. My favorite sandwich is the cheesesteak. It is different from any cheesesteak I have had anywhere else, in a good way. You order at the counter, and they bring it out to you. There are only a few places to sit, and there is no outdoor seating. They are very friendly. They also trust the customer to come to the other counter to pay after they have finished their meal. The bathrooms could use a glow up.
Although not my normal cup of tea, the cheese sandwich was ok. I can see that meat lovers would really enjoy this place. Staff was friendly and helpful. It does have a great atmosphere.
I truly don't understand all the high ratings. My Cheesesteak was so dry I didn't know that you could get grilled meat onions and cheese to come out that dry. My wife said her meatball sandwich tasted like it was made with sawdust. And to remedy my dry cheese steak do you think they had au jus or barbecue sauce or something to put on the sandwich? Nope only mayonnaise and ketchup are the two available options. The bread was good I'll give them that.
Driven past this place so many times and boy have I regretted it! Hands down the best Italian sub shop in the Bay Area! Got the cheese steak with the hot peppers. Meat was flavorful and delicious along with the hot peppers bringing in that sweet heat. Definitely pair them with the sriracha honey chips, you won’t regret it. Will definitely be back and can say my new favorite sub shop!
Antonini’s is a true hidden gem old school at its best. If you're looking for a place with character, flavor, and heart, this is it. Their deli sandwiches are hands down the best in Houston packed full of quality meats, fresh ingredients, and that classic East Coast-style flavor that’s hard to find around here. I had the Italian sub it was incredible. The bread was fresh, the fillings generous, and every bite was delicious. What really makes this place special is the friendly service. The staff makes you feel welcome right away they’re helpful, down-to-earth, and clearly care about what they do. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a regular even on your first visit. No fancy decor, no gimmicks just great food and great people. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area!
I had seen a video someone shared on Antonini’s restaurant on TikTok and really wanted to try it. It’s a little drive for us but very well worth it! My husband and I ordered the 6” Italian subs with chips and a drink and it didn’t take long to get our order. The sandwiches are so flavorful! I got mine with everything and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. I’m not sure what the red sauce is inside but it’s so tangy and spicy and I love it. I’m so glad we gave y’all a try! We’ll be back!
I had heard about Antonini's from a friend of mine who grew up in the area eating Antonini's subs regularly and with that, I'm happy to say, he wasn't exaggerating at all! Food: The food here is exquisite. I tried the Italian which had a bit of everything on it, a meatball sub, and a turkey sandwich. All of the sandwiches contained Antonini's signature cherry pepper spread which provided God-tier flavoring to the sandwiches that were already powerhouses without it. The deli meats are sliced thin and are of the highest quality, the meatballs are made in-house, and the bread is impeccable; soft on the inside with a light but sturdy crust on the outside. I came here two days in a row and would've gone a third day if they were open on Sundays. Atmosphere: The signage on the outside of the building only says "SUBS" but as you approach the door you can see that the shop has the name, Antonini's Subs. The shop inside is small and quaint with the centerpiece being a deli counter where you order or pick up your food from. The seating is limited and included only a full-sized picnic table and several small tables around it but the customers seemed to be aware of this and seemed to be out almost as fast as they came in. The building has two restrooms and both were well maintained. The joint is family owned and operated by welcoming, appreciative, and efficient people who are proud of the products they offer. Go see them now. Pricing: This place will not break the bank vs what the mainstream sandwich chains are charging. The quality of what they offer here makes entertaining the idea of going to any other option for sandwiches seem like such a foolish decision to even consider. Antonini's is a true gem and I wish I had anything even remotely similar where I live.
