See All ReviewsDO NOT EAT THERE. THERE IS A NEW OWNER!!! It is not the same restaurant what we used to enjoy. Dirty, cheap looking place. With dirty menus. The worst is the food. Cold, under-cooked and mislabeled. They serve port with beef gravy and they say it is a beef. Strongroom was made of pork. 5 of us went there hoping we will enjoy the real German food and great beer what we used to ... but it was a disaster. I have never sent food back. 3 of us sent food back because it was raw, or under cooked or salty. The owner and the cook didn't even bother to talk to us. He charged us for all meals and even one word. We paid ... but we will never be back. STAY AWAY if you want to stay healthy. The name of the new place is Bavarian Ale House but google still shows old business name.
My wife and I have eaten here twice and enjoyed the food and ambiance. Tucked away in the courtyard of the Royal Palm shopping square in Fort Myers, I found this small, well adorned restaurant to be inviting and refreshing. My wife is of Austrian-German descent and would probably rate this place six stars for its "delicious and authentic" cuisine. However, even though I enjoyed the wiener schnitzel, I think my wife's is better. And no, I am not saying that just to keep my wife happy. On another occasion I had the Hungarian goulash and would recommend it. With each visit we shared a bottle of a smooth Italian red wine and topped dinner off with coffee and warm apple strudel.
Went here when we first moved here for our anniversary, with other owner, loved it. My husband and I went back in April of this year for our anniversary again. We ordered a nice bottle of German Reisling, and 1 German weiss beer. The server brought the wrong bottle of wine, wrong beer, and left the bottle of wine on the table, did not present it or open it- or pour it; no ice bucket. She ran off and we had to wait and try to get her attention to fix it. When she finally came back, she was very defensive, she blamed the menu for offering the wrong things printed on it and had an attitude. They did not have the wine or beer we wanted, we should have left then. We ordered and it took forever- while we were waiting forever we both noticed how dirty the dining room was- cobwebs, paper napkins, plastic table cloths, never went in the bathroom ( they used to have nice linen table cloths and linen napkins) . When the food finally arrived it was not even hot. The server ignored us the entire time we were there (they were not busy). Another nice server helped us for the rest of the time. The service also used to be fantastic and professional here. Never again, sad to say, we used to love this place. Good luck to the new owners.
