Our server Kristina was awesome, her hospitality level off the charts!, She filled us in on the history of where the place originally started in Umatilla and how it became now backfins! The food is 5 star! Had the fried soft shell crab sandwich with okra. Wife had the coconut shrimp platter wth gravy fries. It was delicious all the way down to the coleslaw! 💯 recommend this place !
Have been absent from Backfin for a bit, but went back today and as always they didn’t disappoint. The server was very pleasant and a delight, great atmosphere, the wine was great, and as always the best Blackened Haddock in town. I paired it with their side salad, their balsamic vinegar and it was delicious. My company had the Steak Bites and Okra and she loved every bite. Locally owned and operated so you definitely need to support local owners.
We had an excellent dinner at Backfin last night. Gator bites were crunchy and flavorful. Soft crab sandwich and the coconut shrimp dinner were delicious. We watched the sunset as we ate our dinner while Dave took care of us and frequently checked on us. Ask for him during your next visit, you won't regret it!
Where can I start… me and my husband decided to try this new restaurant we heard about. It’s located right next to the water. We came all the way from Orlando to try this place. We started off with gator tails. The sauce that was served with it is made from heaven. Then we tried the old bay jumbo peel and eat shrimps. They served it with butter and cocktail sauce. The best sauce was at the bottom of the plate. AMAZING!!. Then we tired the softshell crab sandwich and the grilled shrimp quesadilla. Next we tried the haddock fish… omgg it taste like butter especially with that sauce on the side. The $5 margaritas was amazing. Amazing service Mrs. Tina, Mr. Breau and Dave are amazing.
Our first time here, we had a super good server who was just learning, David was his name, and he did an excellent job! Very personable, and when we go back, we will ask for him every time.
Tried for the first time today and was really unimpressed. It felt like the waitresses had too many tables, at no fault of their own. I noticed the menu said all farm fresh ingredients and locally sourced items, so I ordered the Black and Bleu salad. The lettuce was obviously not locally grown. Wilted lettuce and moldy parsley. I felt bad asking the waitress because she was so busy but when she got the chance, I asked her to send the manager over to tell me which local farm it was from. Instead the waitress just said Graham’s. I know that was a lie; Grahams does not grow romaine. I showed her the moldy parsley, she just said “oh that probably got cut in.” I feel like the locally grown statement on the menu might be true for some ingredients, but overall very deceitful and an artificial way to justify the price. We paid and left. We won’t be coming back.
Walking into this fun and funky place will make you instantly smile. The service, food quality, and drinks 🍸 simply perfect. I went off menu and had their tempura mushrooms, absolutely could have made that a whole meal! So delicious.
Went to Backfin for the first time, Friday night at 7:30 and will definitely be back! We waited less than 10 minutes, and they were busy. Dejah was our server and did an outstanding job, always a smile on her face! I had the grilled mahi-mahi which was very fresh tasting and the asparagus and brussels were amazing (I’m picky and they were cooked perfectly). My husband got the fried haddock, baked potato and salad and said it was great and he would definitely order it again. We didn’t order the crab pretzels but had a lady we met there say it was delicious! Backfin has only been opened for 10 days, so yes, they need more servers etc, but make sure and give them a try! You won’t be sorry, and we do want them to be around for a long, long time! Just what Lake County needs🤤
