3 months agoBali Café is a charming, intimate spot in downtown Miami with bold flavors and excellent service. The shrimp dish I ordered was delicious, and the purple yam dessert was a standout. Dining with a family of six can be hit or miss, but everyone loved their food. Great experience all around.

4 months agoCame to Bali Café on December 29 around 2 PM for lunch. Let me be very clear, I used to work as a waiter at an Asian restaurant, and I’m Indonesian myself. So yes, I know the food, and I definitely know service. I REALLY wanted to love this place. But honestly? I left very disappointed. The service did NOT reflect Indonesian hospitality at ALL. This restaurant is in such a prime spot in downtown Miami, and it worries me that this is the impression people get of Indonesian culture. And when you know your guest is Indonesian, I would honestly expect at least a warm gesture, something. Instead, it felt cold and careless. Or is it because I’m Indonesian that the service just didn’t matter? I ordered shrimp shumai, nasi rames, and durian juice. The food itself was good. But everything came out at the same time, appetizers and main dish together. I get it, not the end of the world, but that’s basic restaurant flow. What really annoyed me: no water. I sat there for about 10 minutes. The waiter wasn’t busy serving. It’s Miami. It’s hot. Bringing water is literally the bare minimum. When I waited tables, water came immediately, whether you asked for it or not. No check-in either. Nobody asked if the food or drink was good. That’s Waiting Tables 101. Sorry, but it is. Food-wise: solid, especially considering this is Indonesian food in the U.S. Durian juice was okay, not my favorite. Bathroom was clean. Prices are expensive, but fine, I get that it’s downtown Miami. I dined alone, and somehow there’s an automatic 18% gratuity. As a former waiter, that honestly feels strange to put auto gratuity on table for 1. I always tip at least 20%. Well your lost! Parking was another nightmare: $36.40 for two hours. That’s insane(not the restaurant fault I know). Definitely plan other stops, or rethink coming here just for this place. Overall, I would NOT recommend this restaurant to my friends. I’d rather send people to Krakatoa in downtown Hollywood instead. Sorry, but not sorry. I really hope the owner actually reflects on this.

4 months agoThis hidden gem is a cozy Indonesian restaurant located in downtown Miami. The server was exceptionally friendly; since I am Indonesian, we started chatting in Bahasa Indonesia, which created a warm atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious— we ordered classic dishes such as gado-gado, Nasi Remes with a variety of flavorful condiments, and a tender, savory ayam. Every dish was expertly prepared and full of authentic flavors. Thank you to Sita and her team for a wonderful dining experience!

5 months agoI visited Bali Café in Miami and honestly, what a cute and interesting spot! The vibe is super cozy and unique. I ordered the Olivia Roll because my server recommended it, and wow it was really good. Fresh, flavorful, and totally worth it.

5 months agoCozy Indonesian restaurant! The atmosphere is inviting with a variety of wood carvings and colorful paintings. You can choose to sit cross legged at the window area or just hang your legs down. The food is authentically delicious ! We loved all of our dishes . They also have interesting drinks that you can try! Some of the ice cream flavors were out so I got a durian milkshake which had a great durian flavor. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for authentic Indonesian flavor!

5 months agoThis place is probably yhe most expensive place to eat in comparison to the decor, venue & quality. Essentially, this place us a dive. We had Lumpia chicken, bakso rice noodles & some sort of coconut curry dish. We also shared a glass jelly "pandan" drink. The pandan is red, which is the Indian's rose water. It's not worth $10. Avoid it at all cost. Only the lumpia has some character. The bakso I had in the island Bali was much better. I had to chase this guy down from my hotel balcony when I notice the hawker far beyond in the meadow. Needless to say this Indonesian place is most expensive & a huge disappointment. When we ordered the lumpia & we even pointed it out on the menu, the server repeated our order as chicken dumpling. We had no choice but to agree. Maybe to him the lumpia is dumpling. So, when the order came out they were steamed dumplings indeed. We told him this is not lumpia, which we ordered. But he said he repeated the order as dumpling & we said yes. Nevertheless, the customer is always right if he didn't take the right order even if he repeated the order there's still a huge miscommunication as in this case. It seems the guy is not very good as what he does. Perhaps he's a PhD student working on his computer dissertation & very absent-minded in this sort of a task.

9 months agoHidden gem! Delicious authentic Indonesian spot, I want this place to succeed and be busy so here are some unsolicited advice: 1.please do something about the front. I could barely find the place with a huge planter blocking the restaurant. Get rid of that planter Maybe put one of those beautiful inside sculptures outside for visibility 2. Menu needs better description of what everything is 3. Add more veg options like Tempe mania . Will be back soon
