Balqees was a beautiful experience, fasting all day for Ramadan this place hit the spot. Greeted by the most lovely staff, I was seated in very comfortable chairs, surrounded by the most awe-inspiring Yemeni art pieces. Beautiful Yemeni outfits and jambiyas adorn the walls with decadence and flair that bring one’s presence to the motherland of the Middle East. Mashallah I felt like I had a small glimpse into heaven, joyful energy with families all around just enjoying the evening to the fullest. I had the Lamb Haneeth which really filled my taste buds with tantalizing flavors one can only describe as truly satisfying, invigorating, captivating, breathtaking, and utterly wonderful. To think there was an entire menu yet undiscovered I come to realize this was only the beginning of my adventures towards absolute joyfulness, happiness, satisfaction, and fulfillment through exploring the decadence of Middle Eastern cuisine. I applaud your excellence my dear brothers and sisters and I commend your spirit. May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala reward you with the highest Jannah for this night’s journey of an experience. Alhamdullilah! 5/5 stars
My friend and I always come here in the morning for the shakshuka it’s really good has a lot of flavour and the free tea (including refills) is excellent service. Their prices are really good they definitely don’t skimp out on the portions one order was able to fill both of us up and still leave with leftovers.
Lamb haneeth is great! juicy and melt in your mouth! Will come back.
Never had food quite like this, but it was fantastic! I had the Shakshuka from their breakfast mean and it was everything I would want for a breakfast meal! It is spicy, but for me that was the best part! My waiter was considerate. The restaurant itself had a very nice look and atmosphere! Definitely recommend!
Me and my boyfriend came here for brunch and it was probably some of the best food i’ve ever had in my life. The server was fantastic and the atmosphere was so welcoming. If you ever find yourself in Dearborn and want to try some authentic Middle Eastern food this is definitely the place to come!
This place is great! They seem to use more spices than the other places. If you want more intense flavors, this is the place to go! The lamb haneeth or lamb zurbian are the best things on the menu. The seltah (root vegetables) and fahsah (shredded lamb) stews are savory and rich in flavor. I can’t decide if I like the maloog or the rashoosh (breads) more, so just get them both! The sides are good, too. Sahawiq (similar to salsa) is excellent. The whipped fenugreek and the garlic sauce are sneaky good, too. And the fries are top-notch! Friendly staff, fast service, relaxing environment, good portions. If you’re looking for an authentic Yemeni experience, you can’t go wrong at Balquee’s!
Food took much longer time to be prepared while i waited in the restaurant for carry out. Pretty high price dishes was in a foam container which makes this dish cold super quick. Moreover, heavy items like Lamb dishes felt like spilling off while holding the container. Bread was $2 each and served in brown bag, again those were pretty burnt out and got cold and hard. Lamb Hanith full meal did not come with 3 pieces as promised. Chicken Galaba was dry and Lamb Fahsa was not the best that I tasted. Gemini food in general my favorite cuisine so I do understand when a dis is not well prepared. Customer service apart from waiting was absolutely wonderful. Restaurant seem clean and decent. Not fancy look but good enough for a gathering or date night. I’ll definitely give another try and update my review.
Everything was perfect from the food to the service! The chicken was super tender and moist, packed with a ton of flavor. The rice was well-seasoned and the veggies added a different taste to the dish. I’ve been to many Yemeni restaurants and this one is definitely underrated. Highly recommend trying it out!
