Bangkok 56 offers a quiet change of pace without requiring much effort. The snapper stands out for its clean flavor and careful preparation. I often follow it with the red panang chicken, which is rich, balanced, and consistently satisfying.
I have been a big fan of this restaurant for the last 20 years. Today I placed an order at 4:30 for 4 entrees and one soup. I was told the order would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived at 5:10, due to traffic, and the woman asked me to verify the receipt and took my credit card. I then waited 20 more minutes for them to prepare the food and left at 5:30. They clearly do not prepare the food until you arrive and pay them. Totally unacceptable! I would gladly pay when I place order. This has never happened before. Others were also waiting. Under new ownership. Prices went up and the portions got smaller. Waitress and cook were rude and very argumentative. Flavor isn’t there anymore, what a shame, this was my favorite Thai spot. We had to ask for our check a few times and had to wait over 45 mins to receive it to pay and leave. Oh, and they serve E1 on plates now, not in a bowl. Too many changes and the food and staff were very disappointing.
