I've been to this place several times since it's on the same level as the market I usually go to. The last couple of times were fine, the meat suited my taste. I did feel that the lady at the counter tried to upsell, but I didn't mind since it's part of doing business. If I don’t want something, I simply say no. However, yesterday’s experience was disappointing. I went in to buy 1 lb of roasted pork. She cut and weighed it, then asked if 1.5 lbs was okay. Since she had already cut it, I agreed, I didn’t mind getting a little extra. But when I checked the receipt, I saw I was charged for 1.79 lbs. I let it go, thinking it was just a slight difference, and figured I had more meat anyway. Today, when I opened the box, I found a lot of bones hidden underneath. Now, I feel like I was cheated. I’ve been understanding, but this crossed the line. This is the first time I’ve ever left a negative review for a place.
BBQ King is famous in Chinatown and they also have a storefront in 88 Marketplace food court. The lunch combo comes with a cup of hot soup, help u digest your lunch so you don't really need to order a separate drink The bbq is a real deal. bbq pork is marinated well, not overly sweet or salty, just right. Crispy pork only have pork belly cut, it was good when it was fresh and hot and crispy. All the layers of skin and meat is well marinated with five spice and etc, but if you take it home, it tastes fatty and the skin turn hard. I wish they have pork rib section so it would be a leaner cut. My combo has a lot of rice on the bottom but I wish they give me more meat. For $@4 I can't complain too much I guess. It is still good place for Chinese food
Don't eat here. They gave me the wrong order (even though I ordered both verbally and pointed to it on the menu plus the order taker repeated it back to me), made me bring it back, and had to wait a long time for the manager to arrive in order to refund me. I told that while I didn't eat the food they gave me, it was still opened and they should not try to resell it to someone else due to hygiene and sanitary issues. They scoffed at me and did it anyways. Avoid at all costs
