I ordered Beef Tibs (Spicy) via Doordash. What I got was berere wo't. i.e. old meat dressed in hot sauce to cover bad taste. This is the 3rd time this restaurant disappointed me in the last 4 months. Resisted posting negative review because of a good earlier experience, and because I wanted to give my country-men/women a second chance. But even the injera tastes bad, as if they traded the teff for corn or maize. Plus, it falls to pieces a day later. So no longer ordering from here. Better miss the real thing, or pay more for delivery from Star Coffee, than eat this garbage.
I ordered food for pickup on a whim because I kept seeing plate of nations recs for Ethiopian food so I searched for something closer to home and I'm so glad I did. When I came to pick up, the inside of the restaurant was so welcoming. I was greeted from within the kitchen where the amazing smells were coming from. It took me a moment to realize where the hello came from. When I said it was my first time here and also my boyfriend's first time trying Ethiopian food, she smiled so kindly and wisely said, "you'll be back." Took home the beef and vegetable combo and we feasted! Everything inside the injera was so delicious, the beef, beets, lentils, potatoes, greens, and anything else I might be missing was flavorful, we gratefully enjoyed every morsel. The chef was right, we will be back, hopefully in person next time, either way, this is now part of our restaurant rotation. This place needs more love and business.
