Top Reviews
See All ReviewsFor what it is -- an old-school family-run Mexican restaurant serving working class people in East Austin -- it's perfect. It's not a fancy, high dollar place seeking a Michelin star or magazine reviews, so some of the new neighbors in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhood may not prefer it. But the food is reliably good and plentiful, the margaritas generous, and it doesn't bust the family budget.
Luckily a popular place like this was empty when we walked in so our group of 3 was quickly seated. Waitress was very quick with the menus and beverages. She answered any questions we had and even provided some recommendations. We ordered the 5 mini taco plate, chicken enchiladas and quesadilla. The order took some time but we were given 2 trays of free tortilla chips with some amazing salsa options. The bottled tomatillo and red salsa were mild-spicy in heat and very flavorful. The food arrived nice and hot and we were warned about the plates being hot so none of us got burned. Food was amazing and very filling. I’m a big eater but the $13 mini taco plate kept me full for the evening. Once again the salsas were so good we dozed everything in salsa and enjoyed the flavor. One small thing was that the waitress was in a rush and we had to repeat our orders a bit, regardless she was really sweet and apologized for asking us too many times. Very professional and nice to talk to. Great place to go to, would definitely come again.
This location need to improve on customer service. There's one guy that's awesome but the others need to do better. Folks choose to spend money there, a good morning or what can I do for you and eye contact never hurts anyone or any business. We won't be back.
