This is the best steak that I have ever had. Yes it's a small town restaurant, but Jake's is better than any high priced, Houston steakhouse. The steaks melt on your mouth and the ranch potatoes are amazing. Anytime we we are driving through East Texas we stop and eat.
The food was phenomenal. Their burgers are nice and seasoned and juicy. The chicken is very moist. An their gravy is perfect. They have a homemade barbecue sauce, and it is the perfect amount of sweet and tangy. 10/10 I will be coming back
Got turned on to this place by a recommendation from my neighbor. I was told it will be the best grilled ribeye that I've ever had. My wife and I went and tried it. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, I smelt what I thought was bbq smoking. When we got in and seated, and looked on the menu there were no bbq! I ask the waitress and she informed me they don't serve bbq and that smell was the open fire grill where they grill the steaks. We ordered the ribeyes. They have a kids steak( 10oz) a 14oz and a 16oz. I ordered the 16oz. It came with green beans and ranch potatoes. The steak itself was not 16oz, it had to be at least 18oz, it was bigger than I expected. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare. The green beans is the best restaurant green beans we have ever had, the ranch potatoes is awesome, then I tried the steak. OMG! My neighbor was right, this is the best ribeye. I'm gonna say it's the best in 5 counties! The wait staff was great. This place is a hidden gem. That was back in March of 2025 and we have been going to Big Jakes on a regular basis now and have never been disappointed. We have tried other items on the menu, and they are great but I keep going back to the ribeye. Wither your passing through Moscow or you make a special trip, I promise you will not be disappointed in Big Jake's. It is well worth the trip, and you better show up hungry. Jake believes in cutting the steaks bigger than the portions advertised on the menu.
There is parking for maybe 7/8 vehicles. If you’re in a wheelchair or walker you’re going to have a difficult time maneuvering inside and you absolutely will NOT be able to use their restrooms. The inside does have an old diner type feel to it. It’s extremely dated and this place is patched together, literally. The tables had wallpaper type covering on them that are super sticky. We sat and about 5 minutes later received our drinks. I ordered chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans for about $17. The plate was like a vintage 80’s type thing. The portion was tiny! The CFS could fit in the palm of my hand and had a lot of crust that was not seasoned at all which followed into the meat. They could have at least marinated it. They brought hot sauce, but that with salt and pepper did not help! Potatoes were okay when I added s/p, green beans tasted like they were from a can. My husband got the same sides but I do not recall his protein. I paid and it was right at $50. When I went to the restroom, the door handle did not work. You put some force into it and it opens and you have to turn sideways to get in. Then the floor is caving in. There is a weird door type thing in this 4x4 restroom (wall to wall) that leads to the kitchen, there are cracks so you see shadows. The smell was HORRIFIC! To get out you had to use the latch to pull it open. My husband said the same about the men’s restroom. I’m not sure how the health department has not closed them down.
We had the opportunity to visit for the first time this evening. The filet was amazing, such flavor and tenderness. Their potatoes are what we in the south call "comfort food. Everything was so fresh. I had a dinner salad and the lettuce, tomatoes were super fresh, the dressing homemade and delicious.
Neat and clean establishment. I didn’t use the restrooms, but the food is definitely the highlight here. I ordered a single cheeseburger with fries, and my companion went for the double hamburger with fries. The burgers were huge, hot, juicy, and packed with flavor. The grilled bun was of excellent quality, holding up well without falling apart or becoming soggy. The patties were large and well-assembled. The fries were crinkle-cut, crispy, perfectly fried, and light without being greasy. I tried the coconut cream pie, and it had a rich, satisfying flavor. For drinks, they offer Pepsi products, which worked out perfectly since I enjoy Dew and my companion prefers Pepsi. The waitress was friendly and efficient, and although there was a large group that arrived, she handled it well. There's additional dining space around the corner. The atmosphere was inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal. I would definitely return to Big Jake's Western Dive again and might try the chicken fried steak or come by when they’re grilling steaks.
Great spot in middle of -Moscow Texas! Wonderful service and menu is fairly reasonably priced! The special tonight was chicken fried venison with mashed potatoes, green beans and gravy for $24.95. They have several pies to choose from:buttermilk pie, chocolate, buttermilk, snickerdoodle, coconut, meringue, fried peach with ice cream and Jacob’s rancher pie.!!!
Started by looking at the food pictures & then started reading the reviews…all great, so we decided to try it out. Best steak strips ever!!!!! Steak, mushrooms, veggies, fries- none of us left anything on the plate. Service superb- beer was cold- we will be back & can’t wait.
