Amazing atmosphere, great service, and I would throw a child into traffic for the food here.
Exceptional hospitality, the shrimp and grits are the real deal, rich coffee! We were welcomed even before we opened the door and inside….the good feel of mellow jazz, some vibrant, local art, and a social atmosphere. So grateful to have this place close to home! Thank you!
Honestly, I came initially because I needed WiFi during my trip, but this place is so much more than a cafe with WiFi. The shrimp and grits were AMAZING, and all the people working there were so welcoming/hospitable. There’s self-serve drip coffee bar, and the baristas float if you want something more complex made. While you sit, there’s great atmosphere/music. The cafe leaves an informative booklet about the history of Idlewild and its settlement under Dr. Daniel Hale Williams and other prominent black folks in the early 20th Century with more reading material in a little library for those interested. So the visit was informative as well as relaxing. Definitely worth a visit!
