See All ReviewsAs someone with celiac disease, finding safe places to eat while traveling through smaller towns can be stressful, so I wanted to give a shoutout to Blue Birds Cafe. While they don’t have a fully marked gluten-free menu or advertise things like a dedicated fryer, they do note gluten-free substitutions and allergen concerns on the menu, and the staff took my gluten allergy seriously. The owner came out personally to walk me through what I could safely eat, they noted the allergy for the kitchen to help avoid cross-contamination, and I genuinely appreciated how thoughtful and kind everyone was. Bonus points because they use Schär gluten-free buns instead of the typical supplier brands, which was such a pleasant surprise! I ended up getting the salmon bowl with rice and broccoli, and it was delicious. Most importantly, I did not get sick afterward. Obviously everyone with celiac has their own comfort level and should still ask questions, but I personally felt comfortable here and wanted to help put them on the map for other gluten-free locals or travelers passing through the area. Beyond that, the restaurant itself is adorable. The decor and atmosphere are really charming, and it’s so nice seeing a cozy sit-down restaurant like this in a smaller town. Parking at the restaurant itself is limited, but there’s plenty of nearby street parking available. Would absolutely come back next time I’m in town and try more of the menu. Wishing this place continued success — I love seeing small local businesses like this doing well.
Cutest little cafe on the main street running through Salisbury. Right by the single stop light in town. The Rasberry Turkey Flatbread was sooo good. We split a piece of chocolate cake with peanut butter icing for dessert. It was an absolute slab of cake. Definitely check it out if you are in the area!
Great place for lunch! The burgers were juicy and delicious, fresh cut fries, and amazing service. A must stop if your passing by.
