MOLDY broccoli 🥦 MAJOR disappointment! The first time we came we had the hibachi rice which was made fresh to order and we had no issues there in terms of taste and portion size. In terms of customer service, we had a rough patch to start on our first visit because other people were served before us when we came in first and waited for a while. I had pointed this out to the manager and he did make up for it at the end by giving us free drinks. Therefore, we decided to give them a second chance and try their soup this time around on our second visit. However, we were even more disappointed than the first. To begin with there was hardly anybody in the restaurant which was the first red flag but we decided to dine in anyways. We ordered the soup which is $10.99 you get to choose your choice of broth, noodle, and meat. We added vegetables to our soup because we wanted to get some fiber in but I guess it was a bad decision to do so because we were served broccoli that had black mold in it!!!! And I'm not talking little specks of black mold like a lot of mold! And it was in both of our bowls! See pics below. When I pointed this out to the female server she said that the chef just throws it in the bowl quickly and they don't really look at it. I can understand if there's a high turnover and you have a really busy restaurant with lots of people dining in why they would maybe just throw it in the bowl and serve it quickly but there was hardly anybody in there. So there's no excuse for why they served us produce that had mold in it! And I'm also allergic to mold which makes this situation even more disappointing. What if I had a negative reaction and went into anaphylaxis!!??? The female server tried to rectify the situation by giving us new broccoli to add into our bowls but when I examined it, some, not all of it, had little small black specks of mold. I know broccoli is one of those vegetables that gets moldy quickly but you should be checking especially when there's not a lot of people dining in the restaurant to begin with. No excuses for that!! Not only that but the beef brisket wasn't very tender it was actually rather chewy and it tasted like it was 3 days old and had just been thrown in the bowl. I have made beef brisket in the past so I know what it tastes like when it's been reheated or if it's old and that's exactly what it tasted like, it did not taste tender nor freshly made. And in terms of my bowl my broth was barely lukewarm. The broth for the other bowl that was ordered was a little bit warmer so maybe they just let my bowl sit there until they finished making the other one and maybe that's why my broth was hardly warm!? It was barely lukewarm, barely. They also added imitation crab in both which I did not ask for, did not want, and do not eat. I didn't say anything about the temperature of my broth because I had already complained about the broccoli. Although the soup looks aesthetically pleasing to the eye unfortunately it was not, I couldn't even finish half of my bowl. I tried to eat it because I don't like to waste food but I just couldn't, something about the taste was off. Lastly, we ordered their smoothies which seem like a great value for $6 but honestly they were mainly ice. Literally the entire container was mostly ice. Bummer. I tried to give this restaurant a second chance but honestly, there were so many issues wrong with the bowl of soup that I cannot just ignore it. I'm all for supporting local businesses in the area but come on. I can understand why the first restaurant that was here before this one closed down and if this one ever shuts down due to lack of customers, I can also understand why, not just from lack of foot traffic. People are spending their hard-earned money in here, put in the effort to show that you care about your restaurant and the food that you serve your patrons. The only reason I gave two stars was because the manager made up for the first time and the female server was polite the second time. Needless to say, I will not be returning and do not recommend!
Super happy to have this place in the neighborhood! The chicken noodle soup with udon tasted awesome on a cold night and is a great value for $11. The noodles in the chicken stir fry had a great chew, the only thing that could have improved it was adding more of the sauce to the dish, but the honey sriracha at the table helped a lot with that. The dining room on the east side was really nice to sit in with the flowers and glass ceiling, and the service was great. We will be back!
Bold Mongol Mongolian Grill was a great surprise. The food was actually delicious, with tons of fresh options and great flavor, and the price is honestly unbeatable for how much you get. The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming, which made the experience even better. On top of that, the restaurant itself is very clean and nicely furnished, so it feels comfortable to sit and enjoy your meal. Definitely a spot I’d come back to!
