See All ReviewsTables are too small to fit a meal on. Server was rude and acted like we inconvenienced her. Two tables who arrived after us were left waiting for the server to even take their drink order for 20 minutes. Bathroom was cold.
I live 25 miles away, so Herrin is a little bit of a drive for me, but I do have some doctors in Herrin, so I'm in town occasionally. I've seen this place many times, but they were usually closed so I would go to Marion to eat. It's so hard to find great, or even good, food that isnt a corporate "chain". Yesterday morning, I had early visits so I noticed they were open and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed. The waitress told me they have breakfast all day long. Yes!! My all-time favorite meal! I ordered a full order of biscuits & gravy. She asked me if I wanted with sausage or without. I ordered it without. I was not disappointed! The biscuits were light and fluffy, and tasted like homemade, and the gravy was the best I've had in a very long time. The food was so delicious. I will definitely be back!! I just wish they stayed open later in the day. If I could give a rating of 10 stars, I would. What I ordered was about $9 and was worth every single penny. I even had enough to bring some home.
This is a locally owned and operated place and I love it. If you're driving through Herrin, this is a great place for a little local atmosphere. It's old school, no doubt. It's a small dining room, only holds maybe 25 people. I love their breakfast. When my wife and I are craving a good breakfast, we'll either call in an order or head down there. They have a breakfast special that includes your choice of bacon or sausage, hash browns (this is my wife's favorite) cooked on the grill top to a golden brown, eggs however you want them (wife loves scrambled- I get 2 over medium), and toast or biscuits and gravy, all for under $10. I also love their omelets, and they'll make them to order. I've also order sausage egg and cheese sandwiches, which they offer on toast. I've never had anything there that wasn't good. And the lady who runs the place is what I would call "just good people." It may be one of the best kept secrets in Herrin. They're not gonna serve 100 customers in 20 minutes like McDonalds, but there is no comparison when evaluating the food. I highly recommend it. 😃
