Tried to grab a drink at Century Tavern and somehow it turned into a full workout just trying to place an order. Bartender Jess must be the hardest person in the building to get a minute with. Standing there, waiting, watching everyone else get served while you’re basically invisible… not exactly the vibe you want when you’re just trying to relax and have a drink. Another couple next to me experienced the same thing. Not sure if it’s lack of attention, too much going on, or just not caring—but it shouldn’t be this difficult to give a business your money.
Me and my wife have been here a couple of times. Both times during the day. The first experience was quick, and we only wanted to come in and check the place out and grab a drink. Will say it was not the vibe we were expecting from reviews, but I can’t judge a place on a quick first take. The second time though wasn’t bad as a whole experience. I will say though we sat down and I noticed ants piling up at the bar table. A full line of ants crawling down the side of the bar closest to the door. It makes me think as a customer what’s being cleaned and what’s behind the bar. The bartender though was really nice and made her rounds, but I think drinks could have been a bit better. Not to blame the bartender either. I think there should be a drink menu of the different drinks the business offers as a whole. Doesn’t even have to be everything, but staples you guys want to include. Help give new customers a chance to see what is offered and what to expect! Including your workers! Just an honest review.
smash burger guy is a creep. other than that the century tavern is great. fantastic bartenders and great atmosphere
