They are absolutely amazing. Being gluten free free send celiac this place took so much care and caution when making my bagel. Using all sanitized equipment and new never touched ingredients they prepared my bagel. Amazing taste as well! 1 million stars for this place.
I recently tried DeLand Bagel. I was very impressed with the quality of the food and was surprised and pleased with the low prices for the various options. I chose the nova and cream cheese on a garlic bagel. I was very impressed with the fact they wrapped each half separately. Upon unwrapping, the food was visually appealing. The nova was fresh and there was a generous portion of cream cheese. The bagel was large and firm to the touch… perfect for holding everything together. Upon taking my first bite, the bagel had the perfect combination of a firm crust and a soft, tasty inside. The nova tasted as fresh as it looked, and the cream cheese had the perfect texture and taste. I have been a devotee of bagels with nova and cream cheese for most of my life (75 years). I can confidently say that this was one of the best I have tasted in many years. And I don’t want to overlook the fact that Darren and his team made me feel welcome. Their customer service is outstanding. I am now hooked on DeLand Bagel and will return… on a regular basis.
Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning and it was pretty crowded, and I’m not totally sure why. Counter service only. I ordered a Jersey pork roll and a bialy with cream cheese. Let’s start with the bialy. It genuinely looked and tasted more like a plain bagel to me, so I’m left wondering if they got my order wrong or if they just don’t know how to make a bialy. The world may never know. I also specifically verified with the girl who took my order that it would be toasted, but the “bialy” was totally pale with no visible signs of browning or crispness. In fact it was toasted so briefly that by the time the cream cheese was applied and it was given to me, the whole thing just tasted soft and cold. The one positive is that they don’t skimp on the cream cheese. With regard to the pork roll, I’m just flummoxed as to why they would give scrambled eggs as the default when fried eggs are the standard. If I had known they were going to be scrambled I probably wouldn’t have even ordered it. The Kaiser also wasn’t anything to write home about, and the pork roll didn’t taste like it was grilled or fried at all, the whole sandwich had a microwaved softness to it that was totally underwhelming.
