See All ReviewsThe food and service is wonderful. It's our yearly stop on our way back from Lubbock.
Good food for the gordos. Keeps my big back family fed. We know the menu by memory or they know our order when we come in . We come in so often
This was my first visit to Dona Juanita's Mexican Restaurant. The restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere. The menu is simple, but may be missing typical items you'd find at other Mexican restaurants. Pricing is a bit on the high end when compared to similar restaurants, but probably in-line with inflation...you will spend at least $15 per person for a meal here. I ordered my food and waited probably a good 20 minutes before it came to the table. While I was waiting, however, the place started filling up and I noticed everyone receiving chips and salsa, although I was not offered/provided any. So, when I was able to get my server's attention, I asked if chips and salsa were provided; she apologized for forgetting to ask, but proceeded to tell me it was not included with the meal. I reviewed the menu (see images) while waiting to pay my ticket at the counter, and there was nothing listed on the menu indicating chips and salsa were available for purchase and how much it cost. The staff was very friendly, but they were not very attentive during my visit. Aside from when I walked in, when she took my order, when I asked about chips, and when I was leaving, I was mostly ignored. The older lady who ran my credit card was very friendly and thanked me for coming in. The food itself was okay. The rice was decent, but the refried beans were a bit runny and hard to eat with a fork. I got three green enchiladas, one beef, one cheese, and one chicken. The chicken was nothing to write home about, but the beef and cheese were pretty good; and the green sauce was on the thinner side and wasn't the best I've had, but still had decent flavor. Keep in mind, as the menu notes, there is a 4% charge for using a credit card. I found this shocking as credit card companies only charge 3%, and never more than 3.5%. But since federal law allows up to 5%, they went for a higher number...which means they are making money on your using your credit card. Overall, I would give this restaurant a 3.5 star rating; however, since that is not possible on Google, I give it a 3-star since I cannot, in good conscience, give it four.
