El Gallo Bravo on Lawrence Ave is a solid late-night go-to for classic Mexican comfort food. The tacos are simple but packed with flavor, especially the steak and al pastor. The burritos are hefty and satisfying, and the salsas add just the right kick. It’s casual, quick, and no-frills — exactly what you want when you’re craving something filling and flavorful. A dependable neighborhood spot that hits the spot every time.
Walked in here by accident and ended up loving everything. They give what looked like a Pescado ceviche as the table food and that was delicious. They have 3 different salsas with varying spice levels - they all tastes great. Tacos came out crispy and the meat was juicy and flavorful. I really enjoyed the Jamaica as it wasn’t too sour and not too sweet either. The birria consume was flavorful and hearty and not super heavy. I tried the camarones à la diabla and it was spicy, filling and had great flavor. The fires were crinchy and crispy, the bread was soft and light and the diabla sauce wasn’t super overpowering. If you’re not into spicy food I wouldn’t recommend getting this because it is on the higher end of being spicy. Very big portions and you’ll definitely be satisfied with whatever you get.
Been here many times the past few months and they are always good!!! Had their tacos and fish and the cooks really know what they are doing!!
