See All ReviewsEl Limón is a tiny hole-in-the-wall spot off Plymouth, and I was absolutely blown away by how good the food is. The menu is a unique blend of Mexican and Middle Eastern flavors — think shawarma, baklava, fattoush, and quesadillas all in one place — and it works. I asked the guy at the counter for his recommendation and went with the chicken quesadilla. It was massive, packed with flavor, and incredibly satisfying. I’ve never been that full from a single quesadilla without feeling miserable afterward — just perfectly stuffed and happy. The prices are amazing too, especially for the Ann Arbor area near U of M. I also tried the mint lemonade, which tasted like a virgin mojito — refreshing and fun, but definitely skip it if you’re not a mint fan. The space is small (maybe 20 seats) with just two people running the show, but the service was friendly and efficient. I will absolutely be going back.
I stopped by this place Monday on my way home and I’m glad I did. I originally went in and ordered a takeout meal, and the cashier was very welcoming. We had a short friendly conversation and he made me feel comfortable right away. I ordered the shrimp bowl (a shrimp fajita style bowl) and waited near the front. The server brought the food to my table mistakingly and I ended up dining there, and that was okay, lol. The food was delicious. The shrimp were flavorful and well cooked, and the vegetables tasted fresh. Everything paired nicely together. My only small suggestions would be offering a side tortilla with the bowl and possibly serving mashed beans instead of whole beans. Also, using a longer-grain rice instead of a very short rice would make the dish even better. The atmosphere was the nicest surprise. There was a guitarist playing, and later a group of musicians started setting up instruments for what looked like a live music performance. I arrived around 5:20 PM and left around 6 PM, so I just missed the show, but it made the place feel lively and welcoming. Overall it was a great first experience and I will definitely be coming back again.
So fun to be there for Jazz night. The bad did awesome and the food was delicious!
