See All Reviews★★★★★ ABSOLUTELY THE BEST IN GUN BARREL CITY ★★★★★ Fernando's El Portal De Jaripo is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Gun Barrel City. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a clean, welcoming atmosphere and some of the friendliest service you'll find anywhere. This place sets the standard for what a great dining experience should be. The food is outstanding every single time. The portions are good, so you never leave hungry, and you definitely get your money's worth. Whether you're ordering traditional Mexican dishes or one of their massive burgers, everything is cooked fresh and packed with flavor. The chips are always fresh, crisp, and addictive—the perfect way to start your meal. The mixed drinks deserve their own recognition. They always hit the spot and are made right every time. Whether you're unwinding after a long day or enjoying a night out with family and friends, the bar never disappoints. The drinks are flavorful, refreshing, and consistently some of the best you'll find around the lake area. What truly makes Fernando's special is the people. When the owners are there, they're always willing to stop, talk, and make you feel like family. It's rare to find owners who are so involved and genuinely care about their customers and community. Between the incredible food, generous portions, excellent mixed drinks, spotless restaurant, and true 5-star service, Fernando's El Portal De Jaripo isn't just a restaurant—it's one of the best dining experiences you'll find anywhere in East Texas. If you've never been, you're missing out. Highly recommended!
Bought 4 street tacos to go came with 1/4 a lime!!! The lime was old and warm as well as the onions. Rice was terrible bland and funky tasting. Chips were amazing but the salsa was also old and funky!!! Taco meat and cilatro was fresh but i would not recomend this place!!!
Won't be going back. Im a regular visitor to this establishment and tonight I called in a to go order and was severely overcharged. Look I understand business was slow. But it doesn't mean screw over the few who actually come in.
