2 months agoRUDE YOUNG BOY WORKING UP FRONT This place has lots of good reviews, but take time to look at poor reviews that have a theme of poor customer service. Called in an order for takeout, while I was giving my order he said he needed to help another customer and would be back (red flag #1). He came back and took the order (which was 100$+). He didn’t repeat the order back, which ended up that there was missed a meal for one person in the party. We were celebrating a birthday, and people had traveled to participate. Upon returning home, we realized, called to add the order and went back to pick it up. I had no issue doing that, as mistakes happen. At the store, I mentioned it to him and he was very defensive about how he didn’t forget anything and that I missed that part of the order. He said- look at what I wrote down on the paper while taking the order! I have worked in multiple restaurants and understand the environment. What he should have done, was simply repeat the order back after taking my large order. It would have caught the missing order regardless of who was at fault - and from my pov part of HIS job. What brought me to leave this review was his nasty attitude. I was upset that I had to drive all the way back, to be met with attitude and disrespect. He never apologized or showed any sort of remorse - which alone would have been enough to forget the mistake. Instead, he gave attitude saying we were doing too much and to calm down and sweared at me and my husband on the way out. Additionally, when we returned we also asked for extra salsa- but the lady who we asked literally didn’t even hear our request- it seems the trend is bad customer service and poor listening skills. We do love the food but not worth it, when lots of other places will be polite.

3 months agoEl Sabor de Oaxaca is the tastiest lunch spot on Warren Street and it’s always empty which is a shame - friendly staff and a basic cute room with charming music- my Mexican shrimp in a creamy tomato sauce was divine

4 months agoThis place is as authentic as it gets. I've eaten a number of times in Mexico, and this takes me back. Taste, texture and aroma are all on point. I even went out of my way on the way home during Thanksgiving to get another taste. Highly recommend.

10 months agoI almost forgot to write this review then I came across the photos in my camera roll, and it made me upset all over again. Firstly, the phone call was not smooth. Evidently they didn’t understand my question which was “does it come with pico de gallo“ to which I got a yes. Instead, I received an entire side of pico de gallo, which leaked all inside the takeout bag and was charged for. I ordered CARNE ASADA and paid $32 for a take out order. Secondly, The amount of rice I received was thievery. It was a portion fit for a toddler that just fully committed to solids. The steak itself, no sauce no onions just one piece of dried dead flesh. Needless to say, fool me twice, there won’t be a thrice.

a year agoWe really enjoyed our dinner here! We sat outside, which was great since they had umbrellas. Great guacamole, tacos and burritos. We enjoyed the spicy salsa and the birria tacos. The server was great, really friendly and really quick to serve us. Recommend if you are in the area!

a year agoAbsolutely THE BEST most authentic, fresh Mexican food I have ever eaten. Honestly, I guess I had never eaten authentic Mexican food before this meal!! Two sweet ladies in the small open kitchen cooking the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten.

Edited 2 years agoAfter visiting Olana State Historic Site a group of six went to El Sabor for a late lunch. It was our first time there. We looked it up on Google Maps but didn’t know anything else about it. It’s a very casual place. A bunch of tables for four people and a counter where you go to get takeout. We pulled a table away from the wall so all six would fit at the table. If there were more free tables we would have pulled two tables together to give us more room for everything we ordered. There was a regular menu and a menu for the specials. Both have lots of items on it. Three people ordered Enchiladas Oaxaca which were four fried tortillas filled with chicken and also came with a choice of a side of Steak or Pork. Our friends ordered Steak which was one large thinly cut piece of steak. It also came with rice and beans. My wife and I shared The veggie tacos and the red cecina which was marinated pork. Also ordered was a Burrito filled with rice beans and she chose chicken which came with two sauces. For the table we ordered the Huaraches with chorizo meal as an appetizer. Most enjoyed their meals. My wife and I loved our meal. It’s not tex-mex which some people expect when going to a Mexican restaurant. It’s traditional Oaxacan food. We debated if I should give it a 4 or 5 star and concluded it’s exactly what it says it is and the food was delicious but might not be to everyone's taste.

2 years agoTried the guacamole for an appetizer and for entrees we got steak tostadas & fried quesadillas with chicken. We enjoyed everything and thought the guacamole and chips were really good! Our food came out pretty quickly and the portions were all a good size. Definitely would come back and try other things on the menu too!
