If you haven’t gone, you’re missing out. Several different Puerto Rican dishes. I go for the sandwiches they’re big and delicious. Always a great conversation with the owners. The ladies are amazing. The Puerto Rican desserts are the best. Just go, you won’t be disappointed. Wepa🇵🇷
We were really excited to try this place because we’re from Puerto Rico and it’s always special to find authentic Puerto Rican food here in Houston, where there aren’t many options. We saw the advertising and the Google reviews and decided to give it a chance. We drove almost 2 hours (including heavy traffic) to get there. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. The restaurant is located inside a gas station and doesn’t have a visible sign, just a Puerto Rican flag that is already faded. The staff was friendly, but the food did not match the service. The food was cold and lacked seasoning. The fried items were extremely greasy. The pickled bananas were so strong in vinegar that they were impossible to eat. The rice had no flavor, and the pasteles (very small in size) were dry, as if they had been reheated multiple times, with the meat inside also dry and tough. The portion sizes do not match the price. We understand every cook has their own style, but in this case, we didn’t find the flavor or warmth that Puerto Rican food is known for. It was disappointing, especially after driving so far and hoping for a taste of home. We do hope the food quality improves, because the customer service itself was very good.
