9 months agoThis place was amazing. The price is great at $1 per foot. The owners are super sweet and love chatting you up. George and Lynda some of the residents of the marina were absolutely fantastic. The whole little marina and restaurant was a pleasure and the food is award winning.

a year agoI was discriminated against today for the first time in a while! I called Chuck on May 9 2025 to verify slip availability. I talked to him and his wife the same day confirming twice May 9 2025 for my arrival May 10 2025. I called again May 10 2025 to confirm my boat for towing to Fairport Marina. Chuck confirmed a third time telling me to come on. I get there today May 10 2025 after paying $600 for a boat tow just for him to judge me by my appearance and say he doesn’t have enough electricity at the marina for another vessel. Poor business. Rude. He kept conversing with a Caucasian male who came in behind me as if what I had to say wasn’t important. Then when called by Boat US he was rude and nasty with the tow company. Worst experience ever. Told the tow company he did not tell us we could come and that he didn’t want “THEM” at his marina. I am one person and I just so happen to be black. Who is “THEM” Chuck?? I’m going raise awareness of this experience everywhere Chuck.

2 years agoAwesome place! New owners are fantastic. We fueled up the trawler and had a delicious crabcake sandwiches and fresh cut fries for lunch.

3 years agoThat was the worst crabcake I have ever had in my life with so many fillers and some very strange taste. I’m hoping that I can keep it down after eating what I did eat of it. The french fries I don’t like with all the extra breading on the outside however I was so hungry and they weren’t that bad hush puppies were good and the tea was good the waitress was very friendly and it took over an hour to get our food.

4 years agoThis is probably my favorite meal from our visit to the Northern Neck, so the unfortunate discovery that our original destination was closed turned out not to be so unfortunate after all. We had the crab cake sandwich, tuna sandwich, and the baked oyster (Bettie's?) appetizer. My husband said you could tell the tuna was local. All I know is that it was all delicious and that service was exceptional. September 2021

Edited 4 years agoI passed by this restaurant last winter and so when my friend and I got hungry today I knew where I wanted to eat.. It was a beautiful day especially to be on the waterfront at this eatery where many take their boats to go eat and take in the views .. the staff was friendly and attentive, while the restaurant was neat, it’s not a place you go for the decor or trendy folk.. but to have a good meal at a decent price ..this sure fits that ticket! It was an active place with people eating outside n in . The food was fairly prompt and I enjoyed my Cheese Steak ( though in Philly Ive never seen it with Mayo lettuce and tomato seems the Va version .. only onions , peppers cheese n a little hot red sauce !) my friend had the pulled pork sandwich .. Call for correct hours ..Our next visit we chose their famous Waterman’s Club, and Chicken salad with lettuce and tomato.. nice fries too. Please note this is AKA “Lead Belly’s”.. check it for hours though best to call first . We both left full n satisfied! I will go back to try more .. Why not go and give it a try for yourself ?

Edited 7 years agoI'm giving this place 4 🌟🌟 🌟🌟 mainly because we were totally surprised, in a really good way. We'd been here several years ago and it was just meh...nothing special. We drove by last year and it looked closed down. Being on the Northern Neck, there's only a hand full of decent restaurants. We thought we'd give Leadbelly's at the Fairport Marina another look-see because we heard it WAS open. Glad we did! Nothing fancy. Nothing. It's a Marina. You can smell the sea lingering from the work boats docked there. There's outdoor screened porch seating, but it was closed "due to extreme heat". The waitresses wear t-shirts advertising the restaurant...and they wear flip-flops...probably against code, but what the heck. There were 4 of us. I ordered the fried oyster appetizer ($12) with a side of fried cabbage ($2.25) My dinner mates each ordered the oyster platter for $20 which came with 2 sides and "big butt rolls". Now...we've been going to another place where the oysters are tasty, but the portions have shrunk over time. When our friendly waitress (who grew up on the water and didn't eat seafood) brought our meals, I was pleasantly surprised at the huge mound of oysters. They had just the right amount of breading and the fried cabbage was delicious, cooked just right. I forgot to count how many oysters I had, but I know this: I got a big mess (a whole lot) of plump fried oysters for not a lot of money. My buddies had more on their plates than I had for the appetizer portion and they couldn't finish...they toted the remains home. If you are in the area of Fairport on the Northern Neck of Virgina, definitely give this place a try. Down home, local hangout is worth the trip!
