This spot has the BEST food!! We tried the Taste of NOLA, the shrimp and grits, and the fried green tomatoes. EVERYTHING was delicious and the portions were huge!! Such good quality food, and large amounts for a great price! The service was also outstanding, felt like I was at home! Cant wait till my next trip to Florida to visit this spot again!
Fire on the Bayou is a nice place, I was pretty impressed by the food and drinks. My favorite thing that I tried was the shrimp and grits, but the Taste of Nolan is great if you're indecisive and want to try a few things. They have a pretty diverse menu, which I liked. The service was a bit slow but our server was on her first day. We came on a Thursday night and there was no wait for a table.
My wife and I recently had dinner here based on other reviews however our experience differed from many of those. We sat at the bar and ended up waiting until multiple tables who were seated after us had ordered. The service was quite slow during the entire meal and it seems there were only two servers, one of which was the bartender. The bartender did have enough time to take a shot with what appeared to be some patrons he knew. When he finally did take our order, he was facing away from us and asked over his shoulder what we wanted. I ordered the gumbo which includes chicken and sausage. After about twenty minutes my food arrived and there was a nugget sized piece of chicken and a sliver of sausage. To compare quantities of food, my wife ordered the shrimp and grits and hers had more sausage than mine, where the gumbo has sausage has as a main ingredient. For an $18 meal, the portions were unacceptable. The gumbo flavor was pretty basic. My wife really enjoyed her shrimp and grits so if there's a silver lining, her enjoying her food must've been it. When I mentioned the portions to the bartender/server, his response was that they were out of chicken. If you're out of a main ingredient for a dish, why did you sell it? The server knowingly sold a dish that was not complete. That is completely unacceptable. He then told me he didn't see it when it came out yet there was a complete bowl of rice and sauce sitting in front of him so it was pretty apparent there was an issue. The photo shows the amount of food remaining after I had eaten the chicken and sausage. It was ultimately an $18 bowl of rice and sauce. The server comped half of my meal so I ended up paying $9 for about four bites of food. We won't be going back.
