REVISION: I’ve been here 3 times now and this latest time I must say I was deeply disappointed. I ordered 12 jumbo shrimp and 2 pieces of perch. My shrimp were very undercooked! I had to throw the food away. My gumbo was lumpy and a bunch of mush. Needless to say this was my LAST visit here. Serving undercooked seafood is an absolute no go! Not trying to get sick! Cool spot, I was visiting from Texas. The fish was good and the jumbo shrimp are a good size. The gumbo needs some work, but overall this is a solid spot. The guy Kenny is mad cool. Will definitely visit again when in Milwaukee.
I gave this place a try based on some TikTok reviews I’ve seen. Overall a really great experience. Being a Black owned business I believe there is room for some positive critiques for improvement. I ordered 2 combos fish(catfish filet)/shrimp and fish (perch)/chicken. The price plus the tip I left was $52. Each combo was $21.99. The price took me aback. I do understand within this economy food and supplies are expensive. However, the portions were small. 2 catfish filets and 5 shrimp and 4 pieces of chicken and 2 pieces of perch. A handful of fries and 2 condiment size cups of coleslaw. Now taste, the coleslaw had a vinegar taste to it I wasn’t a fan. The catfish was fried well but a bit bland. The perch was fried hard, but had a really fishy taste. More flavor than the catfish. The shrimps were tasty. The best thing I ate. The chicken was just fine according to my son( jj’s was better to him). The service/atmosphere was very pleasant. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I do hope this review helps and encourages the business to step up because Milwaukee could use a tasty Black owned fish restaurant.
