2 weeks agoJust happen to drive by with my friend and she suggested we stop in, I was kind of reluctant because my experience with Jamaican spots in WP has been horrible. I got the jerk platter and surprisedly it was 🔥. I guess since it was our first time he gave us a sample of the flavored wings and they were a 10/10. Great new spot I will definitely try again.

2 years agoI was very hungry and smelled the chicken on the grill so I decided to Stop in to grab some lunch. It was $18 for the jerk chicken which was tasteless. It was supposed to have BBQ Jerk sauce on it and did not. The peas and rice was under cooked and not Shelly; it was also supposed to have oxtail gravy on it which was very little and the rice was dry. The Mac & cheese was the only thing that I felt was decent on the plate. With that being said I was very disappointed with the meal.

2 years agoI randomly stopped in today, after having a taste for some red snapper. First time here and hands down the best red snapper I’ve ever had. My whole platter was amazing, the cabbage, Mac and cheese, and the rice and peas. They even put some oxtail gravy on my rice. You will need a nap after a dish like the one I had today. Amazing

2 years agoI was given what they wanted to give me, not what I wanted. The beans were dry under the ox tail gravy. The curry chicken was so so and he gave me cabbage. I didnt ask for cabbage, I asked for mac and cheese. Even if it was extra, I would've paid for it. My first and last time

2 years agoAbsolutely!, The best jamaican food in Philly. Everything is fresh, nothing from a can. You can taste the rosemary, garlic, and pepper. I've tried most of the menu, -ox-tail cabbage rice/peas 5 🌟 's - curry goat cabbage rice/peas 5 🌟's -steam snapper 5 🌟 's -ackee & salt fish 5 🌟 's - festival, ask for this..... amazing - beef patties.... Yes my go to spot as you can see! Still have more of the menu to explore.

2 years agoFrom out of town - the trek to Five Star Jamaican Restaurant was so worth it. Greeted by the friendly owner who was BBQing meats outside. You know it's legit. The jerk chicken was so incredibly delicious and just the right amount of spicy. The smokeiness in the juicy chicken was perfect. The jerk sauce was fire!! I went to heaven and back on each and every bite. We wiped our plates clean and took the best nap afterwards. Highly recommend.

2 years agoAnother Google Maps gem. The friendly owner greeted us outside where he was getting the grill started. They grill the seafood items to order and the oxtail, chicken, and goat items are ready if you are in a hurry. It's take-out only. We ordered one large jerk chicken with rice and peas for $14 including tax which was enough for the two of us. The owner asked us what kind of gravy to put on it and suggested the oxtail one. It was a little spicy but the whole meal was delicious. They accept credit cards. Please support this new restaurant.
