We were served basically rotted guacamole and we asked before we ordered it, no tomatoes and fresh jalapenos. They brought out guacamole that was absolutely old and terrible. We were asked if we could have some fresh made and was told we could leave they were not going to make us any. Now let me explain, I’ve spent $10,000 in this restaurant for many years and my wife and friend were told this when I walked away. I’m absolutely blown away. Rustico is the place to go. How dare me cheat on Felipe.

So we saw this place pop up in Texoma Lives and Eats and figured… alright, let’s go see what all the talk is about. Did my usual pregame… checked the Google reviews. Everybody kept saying the same two things The outside looks rough The food makes up for it Pulled up… and yeah… they weren’t lying 😂 It’s not winning any beauty contests from the parking lot. Walk in though, and it’s clean, casual, no nonsense. Sit wherever you want. We grabbed a table in the bar area which honestly looked like it’s just there in case someone feels like partying on a Tuesday. Now let’s talk about the real reason we’re all here… $6.50 margaritas. Six. Fifty. For a full size margarita. And not the “is there alcohol in this?” kind… these had some attitude. That alone already put them ahead of half the places around here. Chips show up… and yep… the rumors are true. They’ve got that thicker, crunchier, almost tostada vibe. Different, but honestly I didn’t hate it. Ordered the large queso with chorizo. Was it a little greasy? Yes. Was I surprised? No. It’s chorizo. That’s literally part of the job description. Flavor was solid. The Mrs and kiddo split the combo fajitas. Came out hot, sizzling, exactly what you want. Now… my mistake… or my victory depending how you look at it… I ordered the Texas burrito. Menu says it’s big. What they meant was… this thing is basically an entire fajita plate stuffed inside a tortilla like it’s smuggling beef across state lines. I had them hold the lettuce and put guac on the side because I already knew… this was a two meal situation. Cut it in half. Started working on one side. Didn’t even finish THAT half. Halfway through eating it hits me… This isn’t a burrito… This is just fajitas in disguise. Everything was on point. Flavor, portions, temperature, service. Ernesto took care of us like we were regulars. Now here’s the part that broke my brain a little… I took the leftovers home and weighed them. Just the leftovers. Over 2 pounds. Let me say that again… I ate dinner… and still took home 2+ pounds of food. Total bill was $75 with drinks, queso, fajitas, and that absolute unit of a burrito. Bottom line If you judge this place by the outside, you’re going to miss out If you’re looking for fancy, keep driving If you want good food, big portions, cheap margaritas, and to leave feeling like you got your money’s worth… this is it This one’s worth the trip

Girasoles Mexican in Denison really surprised me. The food is genuinely authentic and full of flavor. You can tell they care about what they serve. The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The outside of the building could use a little attention, but don’t let that fool you. The food is excellent and absolutely worth the visit.
