This was my first time at Goree, and I was very impressed. The food was excellent—especially the lamb, which was incredibly tasty. I also really enjoyed the yassa fish and the saka saka. Adama, the owner, was very professional, kind, and attentive, which made the experience even better. I will definitely recommend this restaurant and will be coming back soon!
Delicious, great menu, cozy atmosphere. Service was a tad slow but the food was worth it. The Yassa fish was delicious and the Jollof rice was flavorful and spicy. Would recommend the ginger drink and the hibiscus drink.
I can’t express how much i admire Gorée. It’s such a beautiful space to feast whether you’re by yourself, with family, or friends. In addition to Gorée being black owned by Adama Ba. I dine here at least once a month, but as of late it’s been weekly! Gorée is the ultimate experience, as it feels like home. The service is phenomenal, the ambiance is warm, the dishes are immaculate. And chefs don’t come to play! The cuisines are vibrant, and plated with intention, while seasoned to perfection. With savory bites, derived from recipes straight from Senegal. I can feel the recipes come from tradition, love, culture, and family. As a Southside Chicagoan, Gorée is definitely a forever staple for me. Adama, the owner is for the people and it’s evident through his devotion for food, but more importantly his passion for serving the community.
