See All ReviewsThis place is a golden nugget in Galveston. The beans and rice were so delicious in their simplicity, you must try their sweet plantains, and we finished off the meal with an affogato! Must stop if you’re visiting Galveston. Really gives heavy beach vibes and makes you feel transported.
I was immediately transported in time to Old Havana, before the communist era, the ambiance, the smells of great cooking, the attentive staff. Then the fantastic food took me even further to a place I have always dreamed of. I had the Lechon Asado that was fantastic. Everything tasted like it was from scratch. A cuban pineapple soda topped it off. The fragrance from the Mojo sauce filled the air with garlic and herbs and was the perfect accompaniment. It was a 5 sense immersive experience! I finished with a Cafe Cubano. I walked out and looked for Hemingway in his Panama Hat, Bogart, Sinatra and the others who found this kind of place home.
Can't say enough good things about this Cafe. We were greeted immediately and seated in a booth. We were served complimentary plantain chips with a delicious sauce. We decided to go with the lunch specials. 13.50 and comes with a side and salad. The salad was huge! And we were amazed at the size of the lunch portions! Everything was absolutely delicious! If you find yourself in Galveston, be sure to visit them!
