Delicious German beer, German menu, and home vibe hospitality. Environment in side and out are relaxing and the outdoor views are amazing year round. Only went once and will be going back. This place is gonna getting busy once people catch wind of it. The whole time I was there people walked in with excitement and the response to food and drinks was positive all around. I wish for this place to thrive as it fits so well with the location. This will be a normal part of my life now. Lol

Place is still working things out but worth the stop for dinner. We like the Calimesa location already and it's hard to beat the atmosphere of Oak Glen on a cool evening and that fresh mountain air. Pros: The fried mushroom fries with the aioli is our go to starter and is always good, the Haus Schnitzel was crispy and delicious, the cheddar brawt was very tasty and larger than we expected and the mustard it comes with is excellent, the German potato salad came out very different than expected, it comes as a refreshing wet dish of diced potato with lots of citrus and onion flavor served in small bowl and it was pretty dang good but not what you might be used to, and it was nice to see they had a couple German beers on tap. The building was also pretty cool, small but had some charm, a nice bar, and the patio and garden area out back are great. Appreciated the fact that they had a kid menu with a couple easy choices like nuggets and fries but had to ask for it. Staff was friendly and got what we asked for quickly. The red cabbage was ok maybe just not my thing but my wife didn't care for it either and there was a heap of it. Potato's were crispy and covered in parmesan. Portions I'd say were worth the prices. The cons I hope the owner/manager reads: First coming up at night you could not tell if the place was open. We saw a couple cars drive away after circling past the entrance and ourselves and another patron almost did the same. A simple neon open sign toward the parking lot would help out cause it was dead inside and the door is kind of tucked away from the driveway. For being a beer house they had a small selection, it looks like they're still getting their taps but for now only 3 and then a small can/bottled list (PRO was several good microbrews), all their cocktails are wine based so no hard alcohol on site. To be frank the tritip flat bread was awful. It had no flavor for the meat or other ingredients except for the peppers which were overwhelming the dish, not to mention the bread wasn't very thin like a flat bread should be, they're wasting dough making it more of a regular pizza thickness. The "Calikraut" that comes on the brawt was not worth it at all I don't think I'd get it again. It's loaded with fennel seed for some reason, so much so that it took away from the rest of the dish. Hard to go wrong with some more common staples people will be familiar with instead of these twists they put on them especially considering the amount of tourists that come through the area. Less can be more. The server NEEDS to know the menu and food more. We asked multiple suggestions of her and she didn't even bother to offer to go ask the chef or other workers what they recommended and told us flat out she didn't know and she'd never even tried several of the sides and main dishes showing no effort to go and learn. Every server should know their food. Building was definitely getting cold quickly even as some others came in and this was a mild night for December. Consider turning on that old wood stove even with a single log inside. Not a big deal but the tables are old, probably came with the building and can use an update but they we simple and clean, did the job, would recommend getting some old wood ones for the German beer house vibe. The music was on point, typical Oktoberfest German polka but it was loud and got a bit annoying by the end maybe add some other options or just tune it down for the small building. None of this is worth writing off this place. I really hope thy make it and can fix some of these especially adding more beer on tap, recommend leaning into more local themed foods and ingredients, tone it down a little on others, maybe get some fire pits for ambiance out front and back, hopefully end up with a full cocktail menu in the future. I look forward to coming back and trying something new as the menu had some nice sounding choices, but I think I'll mostly be sticking to basic French fries for the side dish.
