Hawaiian Grindz is a family owned business and so they can sometimes be understaffed, but it's SO worth the wait! My favorites are the musubi, mochiko chicken, and the sweet, sugar-coated, donut-type desserts (forgot the name but they are delicious). I love this place!
Fantastic food, fun Hawaiian atmosphere, really nice people. Prices are reasonable, fantastic lunch special, a must try!
great tasting lunch specials, with good sized portions.
Excellent food, usually not longer than 5-10 min wait
Went today and had the lunch special. $6.99 for your choice of two meats, rice, macaroni salad and drink. I had the Kalua pig and the Mochiko chicken. Both were excellent!! The panko crust on the chicken was crunchy and the chicken was still moist and tender. The Kalua pig was the best pulled pork I've had in a long time. They service was very friendly and attentative. I would definitely recommend Hawaiian Grindz to my friends and co-workers. I'm sure I'll be back soon too.
The food was authentic and island favorites, and the room was filled with the spirit of Aloha which I will return for again and again.
I'm going to start this off by saying that the food that I ate here was very delicious. On the other hand, the almost two hours that I had to spend here during lunch was less than enjoyable.... When we arrived, we were told that there would be about a twenty minute wait for a table, even though I was staring at an empty two-seater right in front of me. After we sat, it was at least a 15 minute wait before we had our drink order taken. The owners were the only ones working, and they were a little backed up, which is understandable. I didn't mind, seeing as I also work in a restaurant and know how it can get sometimes... They ran out of rice, which somehow caused us to wait an HOUR before finally getting our food. I never did get my rice, although my boyfriend got some on his plate. As we walked up to pay for our food, the owner acknowledged that we had been waiting for over an hour but I don't think that I heard her apologize. As a waitress, I can tell you that my restaurant would NEVER make a guest pay full price for a meal that they waited an hour to get. However, we paid full price at Hawaiian Grindz. I did see that they posted a "Help Wanted" on Facebook, which is definitely going to help.
BEST AUTHENTIC HAWAIIAN food I've had, as close to being on the island itself...and the owners, Sean and Cheryl are the warmest and friendliest people, treating you as if you are family. I've tried almost everything on the menu, including things I've never had before (being someone who has frequented Hawaii every summer growing up).
