Atmosphere: We ended up here after trying to get to the top of one of the mountains. To our surprise, it actually a really nice little place. We took time to rest a little and even eat. You can feel the fresh air and hear no noise, which is a wonderful sensation. This place didn't seem abandoned because the trash cans were not full of trash and the grass was not wildly grown. There are also restrooms, not like the usual restroom of course. Last but not least, there is plenty of parking spots if you want to leave your car and walk/bike the trail. Accessibility: The entrance is actually the first road on your right hand side if you are heading from south to north on River Rd. The exit is easy to distinguish because of the beautiful trees in both sides leading the way.
Great area for biking, picnicking, swimming, hiking
Very rocky and steep until Smithville beach. Smooth rock after that
