See All ReviewsTheir food is nothing short of amazing! Try the burrito it might just feed you for days. The food is excellent...Very sweet people if you can catch when they're open you are in luck! Cuple of Games in side like ..There's no other place around for more than a couple miles. However the cigarettes are priced pretty high .
Food is good but would personally like more authentic spice in it.
I recently had the opportunity to dine at Hidalgo Tex Mex Store, a small restaurant located next to a tire shop with which it shares a building. Both the restaurant and the tire shop appear to be family-owned, which gives the establishment a quaint, local charm. I have frequented the tire shop on several occasions, and I must commend the staff for their excellent service and care when it comes to fixing tires. They are always attentive and efficient, ensuring a pleasant experience whenever I need tire services. However, my recent visit to the restaurant side of Hidalgo Tex Mex Store was somewhat disappointing. Upon entering, we noticed that the restaurant does not serve chips or salsa, a staple at many Tex Mex establishments. Additionally, rather than having our orders taken at the table, we were required to order at the front, which detracted from the dining experience. The menu offered limited options for enchilada sauces, with only queso and chili sauce available. Unfortunately, the cheese was extremely heavy and thick, making it quite difficult to chew. The beans were passable but did not stand out in terms of flavor. Moreover, the rice was notably bland and lacked any distinct taste. A particularly inconvenient aspect of our visit was the beverage situation. Drinks were not served to us; instead, we were directed to the fridges at the front of the restaurant, which also doubles as a small store. While the variety of Mexican drink options was a plus, the self-service approach felt disjointed. The atmosphere of the restaurant was another area that fell short. It was extremely hot, and we noticed that the air conditioning unit near our booth was unplugged, with the cord wrapped around it, presumably to make room for a freezer situated behind our seating area. This made for an uncomfortable dining experience as we were sweating throughout our meal. The layout of the restaurant includes only a few tables and a single booth against the wall, which unfortunately does not benefit from the AC. Service was also lacking during our visit. The girl who attended to us was not as polite as expected and was often missing, presumably in the kitchen. This made it difficult to ask questions or request assistance, as no staff members were available in the dining area. In conclusion, while I strongly recommend Hidalgo Tex Mex Store for tire services due to their excellent care and attention, I cannot recommend the restaurant portion of the business. The food quality, atmosphere, and service left much to be desired. Despite my intention to support a small, family-owned business, my dining experience at Hidalgo Tex Mex Store did not meet expectations. However, the tire shop remains a reliable choice for automotive needs, and the selection of Mexican beverages in the store is commendable.
