12 years agoI've been going here for the past 30 years since the time of ol Mr. Lewis. Back then it was world-class Southern barbecue. Since then it's changed management, style and menu many times. Some for the better so not so much. I am a local that drives by the place every day, yet haven't been back in about a year. At that time it was sad all the way around. Poor quality and high prices. Maybe it's time to try again.

12 years agoI came here based on these other reviews and I gotta say I'm pretty sure they are fake. If you stand to the right side of the counter where you order, you too can watch the proprietor take your vacuum sealed slab of ribs out of the freezer and put them in the microwave (6pm on a Thursday, it's not like they shouldn't be expecting to serve food). When delivered, the ribs were covered in a soupy, mustardy sauce (w/o me requesting sauce be poured all over my food) and everything was STILL bland. I can't describe the flavor of the meat itself because of the sauce, but I can tell you that underneath all that sauce it was dry, with no smoke and the last 2" to the tip was indistinguishable from beek jerky. I left a good reviews on the decor because, seriously, who cares about the decor? It's a barbecue place. I left a good review on service because I was the only person in there, I was waited on right away and the nuke-box was zippy quick (it must have been one of those high-wattage, industrial types). I usually don't leave bad reviews, I just don't go back. This time however I'm mad. I feel that I have been deceived and want to warn others.

13 years agoWow , top quality BBQ and reasonable prices . If your looking for good BBQ give this joint a try , I recommend takeout.

13 years agoWe've been to the island many times in the past 10 years, but had never gotten bbq before. Found this place on our GPS. It's a tiny little spot hidden behind a little store on the main road, and on the outside, it looks like it's run down and closed -- but this place is apparently just a well-kept secret! We got our food to go because we wanted to have a picnic at the park. I ordered 2 lbs. of the smoked pork bbq -- it was awesome!!! Also got hubby the potato salad, which he liked, and their baked beans were the best we've ever had! It cost us $36 to feed 3 adults and 2 kids and we can't wait to go back and try their brisket, which we've been told is the best! They cook it slowly for 14 hours! The owner was very friendly and a regular customer who came in while we were there gave them the highest recommendations. Awesome food!
