If you're familiar with Winnsboro, you know there are not many restaurants. We entered J Hooks as patrons but left as friends. The food was AMAZING, we had a cheeseburger basket and Philly Cheese steak. Jonathan and Angela not only serve up great food but beautiful smiles and a friendly environment. Thank you for welcoming us, can't wait to come back and try your fish. I wish you the very best with your food truck, may the good Lord continue to bless you always.
Listen, do not sleep on this restaurant. I was in town doing business and jumped on Google to find a restaurant that I grab some food on my way back home. I usually end up picking up something from KFC or Bojangles when I'm here, only because it's something I'm familiar with and I know what to expect. I'm glad I deviated from my normal options and tried J Hook. First I was greates with a smile and I felt like I walked into my cousin's house lol. I asked what was good and they said everything of course lol. I didn't order everything, but I will tell you that the Croaker, FL Bream(the local favorite i was told) and the Catfish Nuggets were all awesome. I almost ate all the Catfish Nuggets before I got to the Blythewood rd exit 😆 🤣. If you're from the area you know that's not far. Anyway sorry for the long post, but I feel like it's worth the time to write this review and show them some love. If you are ever in Winnsboro and looking for somewhere to get some good fish, please give them a try.
I finally had a chance to visit this restaurant and I’m so glad I did. The owner is very friendly. The food is absolutely amazing and most of all the restaurant was clean and the prices are even better.
They say "hole in the wall" are some of the best places to eat and that is true for this establishment. I was in town for work and decided to try J Hook for lunch. I had the mullet and hush puppies (sorry forgot to take a pic) which were delicious and made to order. Will definitely return to try something else on the menu next time I'm in the area.
This is my go to seafood spot! The food is cooked to order, so there is never a concern about temperature or freshness! Every thing I have had, from various types of fish, to shrimp, to burgers, to fries, to fried okra has been excellent. ANNNNNDDDDD- Angie bakes the best desserts EVER! The honeybun cake- the carrot cake- the RED VELVET CAKE!!!!!!! The lemon pound cake! The brownies! My Lord!
The owners for very welcoming and personable. The food is great from presentation to taste. The towns best kept secret but should no longer be hidden
Food was BEYOND GOOD!!! I was craving an old-school cheeseburger basket, and they absolutely delivered! This place is owned and operated by a local husband and wife team, which was cool to find out! They also didn't mind all my questions about the fish on the menu, and he gave excellent answers when I asked about recommendations for next time! The burger and fries were cooked perfectly and seasoned excellently. The fries were crispy (even after traveling home), and our burgers were a perfect med well. I asked about desserts when I called my order in but decided to wait, but when I walked in and saw that the pound cake was actually homemade I had to have a piece and I'm so glad I did, it was insanely good! Light not too sweet but dense in the best way with just the slightest hint of lemon (Wife makes these and her husband's brag about them was NOT even playing, cause whewww 😍). Definitely a fan and looking forward to next time!!!
I ordered 12 teriyaki wings and 12 bourbon wings. The bourbon was suggested by one of the owners and I'm glad I got them. They are delicious my children and I enjoyed them. The cupcakes were a hit for my kids and the lemon cake was very delicious for me. We went in and ordered to go the owner gave me baby a quarter for the bubble gum machine and let her pick something to watch while we wait. Exceptional service. Didn't wait too long for our food.
