Love that we have a claypot rice place on the northside now! You can also order to-go, but you don't get much of a bottom rice crust when it's to-go. That never stops me from ordering though. The roast pork clay pot is my favorite, and you cannot beat the prices. I think about this place often when I'm hungry. lol
This is a Chinese BBQ/clay pot rice stall inside the Park to Shop Supermarket in Niles. We ordered a clay pot rice to go and also noticed they had Chinese fried breadsticks (you tiao). When we asked about them, the guy working said they’re made fresh daily. The roast duck, pork, and sausage clay pot rice was delicious. The rice had that perfect crispy layer on the bottom and was seasoned really well. They were also generous with the meat. It even came with a free bowl of brothy soup that tasted really light and clean. Tip: Order your clay pot rice before you start shopping around the store. It took about 20 minutes, but it’s made fresh so no complaints there. Definitely worth the wait. We look forward to trying their other dishes.
We always talked about trying this place. Located inside the grocery store its not your typical place to order food to dine in. (They have take out as well) Use of a touch screen menu to see your choices was probably what gave us the confidence to order. Displayed simply and prices very attractive for todays times for eating out we were not dissapointed. Ordering is automated and the nice guy behind the glass cooking will give you an amount of time to expect your meal/s. They are cooked on the spot, not your instant stuff. Ours took a little over 15 mins as we ordered in the clay pot but wow! Very hot and once cooled down enough to eat, very tasty. Portions for us were abundant. We ordered the preserved egg and pork porridge and the salted fish with minced meat. They are served to you on the dining tables located across by very friendly staff so get seated. You also get steaming miso soup to wet your appetite. Utensils found on the table are just spoons and chop sticks. You may need to wipe down the spoons a bit. A bottle of soy perks up the flavors for those who enjoy a boost of saltiness. We did. The dining area is simple, but despite people walking around you wont feel intruded. All in all, we would definitely come back. Going for the pork bbq and roast pork.
