Edited a week agoIf you need Korean food with a quiet, no frills just like the OG mom and pop places hidden in the small alleys around Seoul, come here! No smoke and mirrors, just real down to earth comfort food from soups and bibimbap to sizzling plates of food, plus authentic banchan. We were searching for Galbitang, and we found it! They also have a long list of other soups you would like. We also got LA Galbi and Osam…and the $2 sikhye. Don’t expect food photos this time, we were too hungry. So just come by! 🤭 Update: we came back to try more of their food, and it did not disappoint. We also remembered to take food photos this time LOL The mackerel was so yummy, and the Octopus Bibimbap tasted better than the one we ate in Seoul 😊 We also ordered Je-yuk and another LA Galbi because why not?

a month agoI'm so glad this place is near my office. I used to live in South Korea when I was in the Air Force, so I can attest that the food at this restaurant is authentic and is on par or better than anything I had ever eaten at restaurants in Seoul. The selections have a lot to chose from, and I've added pics of what you could categorize as the more popular dishes that you will find there. The prices are reasonable and you get good value for what you pay for. My food was always ready faster than I would have thought it would be.

Edited 2 months agoWho knew such delicious and authentic Korean food existed in Richardson, TX? Really good portions and price, too! The food came out so fast! I left feeling so satisfied. The flavors were so nostalgic - they reminded me of my childhood, growing up in a Korean home. Everything is self-service, so once I got my food, it was so easy to get what I need and put my tray away. It makes for a very efficient and seamless dining experience. I’ll definitely be back! I got the Seafood Pancake (Pajeon), the Dumpling Soup (Mandukuk), and the Spicy Pork and Squid (Osam). Everything was delicious.

3 months agoGalbi bibimbap muy bueno. Great authentic Korean food. Normally I'm used to a fried egg with bibimbap, but the galbi and bell peppers were top notch.

a year agoFinding a good Korean restaurant usually requires us to drive quite a distance. However, this restaurant is a perfect 10 out of 10. The food is excellent, the place is clean, and the staff is friendly. What more could you ask for?

a year agoFebruary 2025 Joy kitchen served some wonderful memories for my family. My boys loved the rice drinks and many less expensive flavorful Korea dishes. Unfortunately, we stopped eating here after new ownership. I remembered vividly the previous owner stopped serving before closing because food was either sold out or she was too tired after a long day of cooking. Joy Kitchen used to be our family go to Korean restaurant in this neighborhood. We decided to revisit today because I’m craving for the Korean chicken and potato stew. Sadly, I was disappointed again with the mild taste and the watery texture. The stirred fried squid and pork was pretty good maintaining the flavor. Regardless, the menu price is reasonable and good portion. If you are in the neighborhood and do not wish to travel to Korean town in Carrollton, Joy Kitchen still offers some decent home cook Korean cuisine.

Edited 3 months agoFood is great! The price is reasonable! I do miss the old time when each dish was less than $10, and you grabbed side dishes, rices, and rice drink on your own without additional charges. Now, each dish is at least $10, and you can self service for water.

a year agoJoy Kitchen may have an unassuming sign, but the Korean food inside is truly to die for. The restaurant features a simple, no-frills interior, but what it lacks in décor, it more than makes up for with its flavorful dishes and generous serving sizes. The prices are reasonable, making it a great value for the quality and portions offered. P.s. weekday lunchtime can be busy and be ready for 20-30 minutes for food to arrive. Operating on a self-help style, you place your order at the counter and pick it up when your ticket number is called. The stews here are especially noteworthy, packed with a generous amount of protein and bursting with authentic Korean flavors. While the drink selection is limited to sodas and water, it complements the meal just fine. The workers are kind, genuine, and quick to serve, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Payment is flexible, with both cash and card accepted, and parking is easily available. The clean and well-maintained interior rounds out a pleasant dining experience. If you're in the mood for delicious Korean food at a reasonable price, Joy Kitchen is a must-visit!
