See All ReviewsI go here quite often. I tried many of the plates but the Baked Turkey Wings is just amazing, and I could that every day for a month. Glad they are still in MV doing their thing, and I can get my wings every Thursday....when they also serve my 2nd favorite dish. IYKYK.
This is a community restaurant that is is being micro managed by a cranky dis-respectful owner. The service is VERY SLOW. I was 2nd in line and it took the server 20 minutes to fulfill my order. I wanted two orders of turkey wings with collards and candied yams. I was told that they were out of yams so I ordered potato salad. But before my order was prepared and bagged she (the owner) came out of the kitchen with a fresh tray of candied yams. So, I asked the server for 2 orders of candied yams in addition to the potato salad. The owner interceded and said I could only have 1 order of yams. I declined and I should have walked out on the entire order since I had not paid for it yet. But I decided then and there I wasn't going back there again. She's killing the business with her dysfunctional micro-management attitude. I will never go in there again AND neither should YOU!!!
I finally came here after years of hearing about this place and trying many different options from places in New Rochelle all the way to Nyack. Although the atmosphere is minimal the food is delicious and plentiful. I felt as if I was picking up plates of soul food from my church ladies with the gospel music playing which I did not mind. I ordered three dinners we tried the fried chicken, collards, yams and one order of mac and cheese that was a mistake we should have gotten more and order of peach cobbler. As my daughter described it she felt like eating this food was like getting a hug from a grandma! None of the food is overly seasoned which my husband and I prefer but seems to be the common mistake a lot of soul food locations are making. There is a detour near the location which makes parking a little bit of a challenge however, that will not stop me from returning.
