3 months agoLoved the burgers. Bugogi is so tasty. The oriental fries were so good. We have not tried anything else but will try the bugogi dish next time. I have yet to hear a bad word about this place. Friendly staff. Small area but not crowded. Thank u.

3 months agoI had chicken bulgogi and it was delicious. They have been around since the 70's so they're obviously doing a lot right! You can get traditional Korean cuisine or American food also. One customer raved about their cheeseburger, which was huge and tasty looking as well as the heapin helpin of fries. You cant go wrong!

3 months agoThis afternoon drove over an hour from Austin just to try out 50+ year old Kitok and it didn’t disappoint. From the fabulous food to the old-school ambiance to the family-style hospitality, this place is a true gem (besides Magnolia Market?) in Waco. A little too tired to go into detail about each food item ordered, but I can say with confidence there’s a reason why the place keeps busy with locals and foodies like me who don’t mind traveling for comfort food without breaking the bank. Liplock Burger ($10): moist, well-seasoned double patty with cheese, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles on a toasted yet pillowy bun. Good stuff. Oriental fries ($7): a play on a traditional Korean side snack called yachae twigim (aka vegetable tempura) but geniusly adapted into matchstick fries along with slivers of onions and carrots. Absolute must-order and appears to be their signature item. Half beef bulgogi / half chicken bulgogi ($17): at first glance, due to its thin cut, expected the meat to be dry and leathery but not so at all. Quite flavorful, moist, and a very nice one-two combo with the delicious fried rice that’s black pepper heavy (a very good thing!) Soup and salad: creamy potato soup with shredded chicken and a side of fresh, crisp salad. Not sure if this came with the bulgogi or burger set, but the two additions were a nice touch to an already complete meal. In short, you leave the place feeling full, happy, and warm-hearted because there are few places like this that feed the community as though they’re family. Very cool to find staff - especially the owner herself - and customers just calling each other by their first names throughout my dining experience today!

3 months agoI can hardly believe I've lived in the area over twenty years and had never been here before. We arrived at about 5 p.m. on a Saturday. There's not a lot of parking, but we had no issue getting a spot. The building is old and not inviting. We were warmly greeted, and while there didn't appear to be a lot of seating, we had no wait. My wife had the Beef Fried Rice. It didn't have much beef, and she found the rice to be a bit mushy. She would not order again. I had the Lip Locker burger. It was very good! We split an order of Oriental Fries, and they were excellent, especially when coupled with the soy sauce! We also split an order of Mandu (stuffed dumplings), which was also very good! Our waitress was very nice and attentive! The meal was also fairly priced. We'll definitely go back!

Edited 3 months agoOrdered the beef bulgogi (this is in reply to the owner as I couldn't reply for some tech reason) Meat needed to be a little more tender. Flavor was great.

5 months agoIt is a quaint hole in the wall restaurant. The menu at first glance serves several traditional American menu items. I ordered the sweet and sour pork and it came with a bowl of delicious potato & chicken soup and salad. The entree itself was surprisingly a traditional Korean take on sweet and sour pork and very delicious. Dont judge the menu items by the menu. The food is great!!

7 months agoBest Korean propaganda I've experienced since watching K-pop Demon Hunters. The oriental fries are the best fries I have had in Waco. The potato soup and fried rice is incredible. The salad is excellent. Those were just the accompanying sides, which were not small in size and made us feel like we were getting exceptional value from the price of meal. The entrées themselves are quite good. The flavor on the beef bulgogi was top-notch and the gravy accompanying the chicken fried steak was excellent. If there can be one area of improvement, it is with the tenderness of the meat—both the chicken fried steak and the beef bulgogi were tougher than my liking but not too much as to detract from the value of the meal. We definitely will come again.

a year agoTwo of us ate here on Feb. 19th after I'd had a medical procedure done. It was really windy and cold that day. Parking is in the back. We were greeted as soon as we entered and told to pick our own table. It's a small place and there was a gas heater going which made it even more cozy. The food was great and the two ladies were so sweet and attentive. We've told multiple people about Kitok and will 100% be going back when we're in the area. We found it sort of by accident, but that was a great accident. Everything we had was great, try it all!
