Kung Fu Pizza Bar is what happens when a neighborhood slice joint actually respects the craft instead of hiding behind neon lights and late-night drunken forgiveness. Let’s be clear: this is not some precious, wood-fired, truffle-oil ego project. It’s proper pizza. The crust has structure. It holds. It has snap without turning into a cracker. The cheese is applied with restraint instead of insecurity. The sauce tastes intentional, not like it was poured from a five-gallon bucket labeled “red.” Right off the Division Blue Line stop, it’s positioned perfectly for post-bar chaos, but the pizza stands on its own even if you’re stone sober and judgmental. Which I was. The room has that unpolished Wicker Park energy. Not curated grit. Actual grit. And it works. Prices are fair, especially considering the zip code. They’re not exploiting the neighborhood tax, which already puts them ahead of half the spots within walking distance. In a sea of mediocre slices propped up by vibes, Kung Fu quietly throws a better punch. I’ll be back. And I won’t need to be drunk.
It’s supposed to be a pizza with a can of pop. Last two times we went we ain’t no get pop, waited 30 minutes and honestly the guy at the window is a little rude. Maybe he’s super busy, I can understand but like…damn. Decent pizza. $5 for two slices is pretty cheap so you get what you pay for
Hidden Gem right in your face. Opens at 6pm it's great to get a Nyc slice pizza or deep dish for a great price. Stop by the other day and the pizza was great and the guy was nice as well. Will be back soon...... 🍕
