Im not one to leave reviews, but these guys deserve it. I read a few on here with bad experiences and was hesitant to reserve a table, but I’m glad I did. I had a party of 13 for a birthday celebration and was looking forward to live entertainment. When we arrived the place was empty! I was certain the entertainer would be cancelled, but they pulled through! Appreciate a restaurant owners initiative and making our night memorable. Atmosphere: Entertainment definitely made our night. Xavier set the tone with amazing crowd work. We aren’t really the karaoke type group but he got us going. He even broke some mother/daughter-in-law tension with his humor haha. Kids got to participate as well. Food/Drinks: bartender nailed it. All drinks ordered were flavorful and had that “kick”. Would recommend the Pineapple/habanero mezcalito. Ordered a tower of hibiscus margarita that didn’t fall short on liquor content and flavor. Every dish ordered was savory with a tasteful portion. Would recommend the Guac with chicharrón appetizer. I wasn’t crazy about the calamari as the main sauce was not my cup of tea. However it was fried perfectly, and the mayo/ketchup sauce saved the dish. Ordered the molcajete de Cora: Nayarit style, plentiful for two people, full of flavor. Service: As the restaurant was fairly empty, it’s hard to determine attentiveness. But I will say our server was consistent, as was the bartender. No complaints. It was a Sunday after Thanksgiving and a snow storm. Parking lot plowed.
I loved this when they first opened. Great service right off the bat, which is very much appreciated. The food and drinks were initially good the first time I went. The second time I went, the food was “ok” and the drinks were still good. The last time I went, the food was not it and what I originally ordered took a while only to find out a good time after, they were out of it. Opted for something else and they were also out of it so I went with the tampiqueña and asked for it medium well, got a raw steak instead until they fixed it. The drinks? Not as good, guess they had a new bartender and they just weren’t the same. Had become a favorite local spot of mine until the transition went from good to mediocre. Hope they get back on track, I haven’t been back in some time and when I do go back, it’ll be as good as I first went.
