3 months ago🌺 Casa Abuela – Pharr, Texas If you’re looking for a welcoming spot with a delicious lunch menu and flavors that feel homemade, Casa Abuela in Pharr, Texas delivers beautifully. From the moment we were seated, Paola made us feel genuinely welcome. She was attentive without hovering, friendly without being rushed, and offered thoughtful suggestions from the lunch menu. Her service elevated the entire experience — professional, warm, and sincere. We ordered the enchiladas de mole with chicken, and they were outstanding. The mole sauce was rich and well-balanced, blending savory depth with subtle sweetness and gentle spice. The chicken was tender, the tortillas perfectly soft, and the portion generous — exactly what you hope for from a satisfying lunch plate. We were also served warm sweet rolls with butter, which were soft, lightly sweet, and fresh. They added a comforting touch to the meal and paired perfectly with the savory entrée. And then there was the dessert display — elegant and tempting. Thick slices of Oreo cookie cake, decadent turtle cheesecake layered with caramel and chocolate, and a beautiful assortment of original Mexican pastries were showcased like edible art. Even if you arrive planning to skip dessert, one look at that case might change your mind. Between the flavorful lunch selections, attentive service from Paola, and the stunning dessert offerings, Casa Abuela stands out as a must-visit in Pharr. We’ll definitely be back — and we’ll be asking for Paola.

3 months agoIt is a very cute and aesthetic place. Not sure if this detail matters, personal preference, we sat in a booth and I felt the table was a little too far where you need sit on the edge to be close. Originally I was interested in chilaquiles de la abuela, a very nice eye catching picture on the menu, but was surprised to know an $18 plate came with no protein and essentially was just the tortillas. Eventually I settled on La Migra which had everything I was looking for: eggs, potatoes, beans, half a slice of avocado, and a portion of chilaquiles for $16. A little deceiving, but I’ll take the blame for not reading the menu more thoroughly. The dish itself it was okay but the portion size was great. I liked the chilaquiles, the potatoes, and the portion of the avocado. I was not a fan that the food was cold, the green salsa was sour and didn’t have any kick to it. I don’t think service was great. We did get handed off from one server to another but even then, we only saw our server a handful of times, had to ask another gentleman working for additional items. It is an aesthetic place I’ll give them that but it would not be my first choice to eat a good breakfast.

4 months agoChoice place for breakfast! They have a variety of different options and a bakery. Place is nicely decorated, clean, and well lit. Staff are dressed sharp, courteous, helpful, and friendly. I very much enjoy dining here.

4 months agoAtmosphere and ambiance is pleasant, restaurant is clean, staff is friendly and accommodating. Based on the prices one would expect more, the food was presented really well but did the flavor fell short. The enchiladas mexicanas with chicken tasted like most ingredients were not fresh made to order, tortillas are frozen, beans and rice lacked flavor.

4 months agoSmall diner chain with big class! The chef and the bakery, and the professional wait staff make it an experience. Price seems high for a cafe, but it’s a great value all things considered. I’ll return.

5 months agoLove Love Love Casa Abuela! This is our all time favorite place to dine. And today we had the pleasure of celebrating our wedding anniversary #34 here. The food is delicious and the service is amazing! Thank you Paola for your awesome service. The dessert was delicious too!

7 months agoFirst time here..atmosphere was clean and inviting. The waitress Paola was very attentive and friendly. We had the molcajete norteño I definitely recommend!! For dessert, we had pan de Dubai super delicious definitely coming back! El cafe de olla delish!!
