See All ReviewsFood was absolutely wonderful. Unique flavors. Fresh, elegant, and carefully balanced dishes. This is our first time at Grassa, but most certainly won’t be our last. If you’re thinking of going out and having an incredible meal, you have to think of coming here. Andrew is also a kind and wonderful host. His service was prompt and attentive.
Shelly and I went to La Grassa Pastificio in Cary for our 49th wedding anniversary date. She has been to Sicily, and said this was the best Italian meal she has had outside of Bagheria! We had Arancini (cheese filled rice balls) for an appetizer: 2 of a nice size for pre-dinner. She ordered Gnocchi Affumicato (gnocchi with smoked scamorza cheese and parmesan creama), I had the Branzini (salmon instead of Sea Bass tonight). Both were melt in your mouth wonderful. The gnocchi were tender and flavorful: her eyes closed in pure happiness! The salmon had a light crust, and was smooth as butter inside. It came with little Yukon Gold potatoes and pancetta. Both dishes were a perfect size for a main course. We closed with tiramisu, again perfect with smooth mascarpone and steeped in espresso. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, well paired with the Branzini. The owner came by our table and chatted with us for a while to make sure everything was right. Very highly recommended!
We had a great evening at this charming Italian gem! From the moment we walked in, we felt the warmth of the owner and chef, who truly put their hearts into everything. The focaccia was delicious, paired with a zesty, perfectly balanced basil-lemon pesto that we couldn't get enough of. The highlight was the chef going above and beyond to make me a Carbonara, even though it wasn't on the menu—it was authentic and divine! The green risotto was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly cooked, and even the asparagus was a standout: perfectly al dente and delicately seasoned. We enjoyed every single moment!
