See All ReviewsSmall trail, but pleasant. I like walking here.
This place unexpectedly brings so much biodiversity to the table! This short walk on soft ground in a forested area is a highlight of Colonial Park. The native shrubs, wildflowers, aquatic plants, & water fowl present are sure to brighten anyone's day, & that's only skimming the surface. I would name names here but that would spoil the exploration ahead of you! Anyone who wants to observe native species in our area can find joy here. Note, the trails can be muddy.
The trail itself by this parking area is small, about 0.3 mile loop but once you venture off outside into the park, the trails are expansive and connect to other areas like the garden, picnic areas, the duck shaped boat paddle across the street. You can walk on and on as much as you like - everything is mostly flat, no hills. You can get to the D&R canal trail from here.
